To be totally honest, i think this season has been advertised appallingly! I've watched all big brother series, but I only knew this season started during the day on Tuesday when i was flicking through the TV guide. I don't recall seeing any adverts on TV or posters advertising the start date.

Live Feed, varied cast of ages, nationalities and backgrounds, better promotion, ditch Brian, ditch the outdoor set to allow more room (make Brian have to walk from a studio to the house to get an evicted housemate -see BB1 eviction), bring back live saturday tasks, stop the obsession with models and OK! magazine fodder, have less series during a year, stop editting the highlight shows like an episode of TOWIE, Big Brother needs to be more evil and promote the show with some kind of theme that will be prominent throughout the entire series... I could go on.

What we really need is a break off. Some time to miss it. I love Big Brother and am so glad it's back for the summer, but the casual viewer just can't keep up with 5 series in the space of a year. It's just too much. They need to cancel CBB in August and leave it till January next year, then launch BB14 with a MASSIVE campaign in early June.

As for this series, I think just play it cool for now, if there is drama in the house then maybe more people will tune in?

They need to drop the facebook, twitter social media rubbish and bring back live feed and go back to one normal and one celebrity show a year - it's overkill at the moment imo

Air amazing highlights.

Give us the live feed back after evictions like they are supposed to.

Stop assuming that everyone and their granny use social media networks and start posting more updates on the c5 website rather than having to click through to the annoying FB app that constantly crashes.

I don't agree that 24hr live feed would gain more viewers for the highlight shows though, but it would still be amazing to have it back.

Live feed.

I was talking to some woman on a job yesterday who said she wasnt a major BB fan but watched because she knows Victoria and was hoping to watch her on live feed.

She was shocked that there was none available and feared Victoria will be edited in a bad way.

That's a damn good start!

They will do none of it next time, though.

Ditching Brian is a shout. If ever there was a set of producers taking the easy/cheap option with hiring a host, it's this bunch. He's so unnatural it's painful. I actually find it quite uncomfortable and awkward.

The only way to increase BB ratings is to give it to ITV. They would show it at 9pm. They would promote it extensively and they would have a decent presenter.

they need more 30+ housemates imo, and LF needs to return obviously.

Sadly, never going to happen. They were interested in buying it many moons ago but they would never even consider picking it up now.

I'm not sure it really a mainstream program anymore. Is there such a need for huge amounts of money to be spent on it either? Maybe they could get rid of the 100k prize fund and expensive houses etc and tone it all down, then it might become more profitable to Channel Five, and more like a soap opera or something similar. Smaller ratings, but constant and invariable.

Show it at 9PM

BB would be ruined on ITV. They're the most PC channel going, words like crap and arse have been censored on I'm A Celebrity before, it's pathetic.

Anyway...bring back live feed. It should never have been taken away in the first place.

- Bring back live feed
- More variation on the type of housemates
- Show BB at 9pm instead of 10pm

Absolutely Josy I agree with all of the above.

Bring back live feed.

It was free advertising.

Things would happen on the live feed. The tabloids would report the event the next day and viewers would tune in that night to watch what had been reported.

How would scaling down and spending less cash on the show get more viewers? :/

If anything that would turn them away, Channel 5 are not poor and BB has made them a ton of cash since last summer.

Its the editing and live feed situation thats putting people off.

Totally disagree about the live feed. If people aren't going to watch the highlights show, they are hardly going to watch the live feed, where the chances are, nothing is happening. I really don't see why people want the live feed back so badly.

Regarding the editing, again, I don't think this would put people off either.

I don't think lack of live feed is itself turning people off, but it gets rid of the show's biggest unique selling point. Why watch 3 months of TOWIE-likes when you can just watch a more well-produced shorter series of TOWIE over a few weeks?

That's true. Besides LF (which needs to be brought back), the only thing we can hope for is a HUGE row. It worked in BB5 and even worked in Jan for CBB9. The show averaged 2.6m for that series of CBB9, and Pantsgate got 3.1m, so a rise of half a million people are probably people who would watch just because of a row (so people that care about the show only when something exciting happens). Those viewers pretty much stuck around until the end, as the show didn't drop a lot from that point (same for BB5, it was fluctuating before Fight Night and then rose and stabilised).

But of course, other things...

- LF as I has mentioned.
- Advertising. A lot of it.

Live feed around the clock people watch it than they will tune into the highlight show.

Certainly can see the point you're trying to make. However, as someone who doesn't watch TOWIE, i would argue that big brother's main appeal is that it is "real" people living their "real" lives. I watch it because i find observing how different people react to different situations entertaining. It's not scripted and it's not a bunch of actors (like TOWIE is). Having said that, i would never watch a live feed.

it was for me i watched the first cbb on c5 and that was it
not watched any bb since

and i have watched every bb show since it started

i only came on here to check if they had brought back live feed

if they had proper live feed at least at night i would have returned to watching it

ofc i can not speak for anyone else but i presume i can not be the only one

what people forget also is when there was LF then that influenced what was put on the edit show because they could see what was peaking the most interest on forums like this

now the edit show is the taste of what just a few people find interesting and they have to hope the masses like it
