Appears it wasn't in the rulebook and they were told in the Diary Room that 'it's not against the rules to discuss nominations'.

Excellent news.

I don't mind it happening for a certain period.. but discussing Nominations for the whole series is going to be awful, what's great about nominations is the mystery of who people are going to nominate and now were going to see them discussing it and it will be much more obvious who will be up each week, terrible.

Don't know what to make of this, it's a good thing because it encourages game play but it's also a bad thing because we could see the same people being up every week if they vote in cliques.

Thing is in recent years I have found the nomination process quite predictable and well boring. And block voting has always been a problem.

Discussion will lead to gameplay and more unpredictable results, and hopefully more variety on who gets put up.

don't really see how people discussing nominations can make it more unpredictable though, it will just be who has the majority of members in their clique putting the other clique up for eviction every time, at least when it's not discussed you'll only know the outcome when it's on BOTS now it's going to be predictable as ****

Isn't that what already happens on most of these other shows? X Factor etc. Would be a lot fairer that way rather than what it'll be now of the same people up every week and the undeserving ones slipping through to the final

Nominations are too important to Big Brother. Evictions are too important to Big Brother, they'd no longer be these big events if it was the same every week. Having everybody up every week would undermine a lot about the show. It would be boring.

They others are going to find out about it surely though at some point. I doubt they can keep it a secret from them for the entire series. Somebody else is bound to discover this at some point in the future, either from them of from Big Brother. Unless the rules are changed again...

What's that gotta do with it? If anything this will make it a love-in with the blocks.
I hate block voting, where people group together to get others out, I prefer seeing their unbiased/uninfluenced thoughts.

Hate this idea.

Its such a terrible way. It allows ganging up and stuff. Its wrong. Nominations should be a housemates own choice and they shouldnt be forced into nominating others due to the persuasion of louder housemates.

It's a game and should be treated like a game.

It makes it more interesting.

Hopefully Lydia's lot beat Arron and Connor lot.

Macie Lightfoot

Block voting has always occured, dont get that argument.

Exactly. Even when you weren't allowed to discuss nominations, you would see the groups nominating the same people. I don't think that the end result will really be any more different. Nobody's going to be forced to nominate the same way, there's still room to nominate freely. I think there's a lot of overreacting to this.

Valdora
11-06-2012, 12:38 AM
I think it's obvious that they decided to try the BBUSA style. Or at least a hybrid. Because remember that half the people in the house will be against game playing.

Now if there is a BB14 it could effect that in terms of who ends up in there and how they play. But I think what it comes down to it an experiment.

I for one was getting tired of the old Big Brother formula and the nation as a whole was too. I think adding that element and watching the fireworks fly makes it far more interesting.

If it fails then they can go back to the regular style. But so far it has caused nothing but drama and so long as we also get to see genuine likeable friendships forming as well I don't have a problem with it. Let's see what happens because so far its resulted in 2 damn good HL shows IMO.

Jords
11-06-2012, 01:14 AM
I quite like the idea, maybe for the next series, that there is a task every Saturday to win the right to nominate. This task has to be thoughtful and not some half-arsed jobby, because the prize is power. Half the house win the right (on odd numbers, round up).

This makes winning essential, and gameplay even moreso... if BB is evolving down this route. It prevents a large group forming and dominating.

Hate the rule change. Takes the whole paranoia away.

It adds paranoia if anything, not knowing who to trust, thinking you have a group of people in the house planning on mass nominating you.
