The father of sex swap Big Brother star Luke Anderson has backed his daughter’s decision to change gender.

And Bill said last night: “I may have lost a daughter but I’ve gained a son!”

He told how proud he is of transgender Luke, 31, revealing his secret to the world by entering the Big Brother house.

Boiler-maker Bill, 57, had no idea the chef was planning to take part in the hit reality show when he dropped Luke at the station.

He and wife Christine were stunned when Luke turned up on the Channel 5 show and announced: “I’m a biological woman!”

Bill said: “I had lost a daughter – and a gorgeous-looking girl at that. But I had also gained another son and we both knew at last he was happy.

“When you are a parent anything your child does, you love them unconditionally. You want the best for them and you carry that through.” The couple, who live in north Wales, knew from an early age there was something different about their daughter.

At six she refused to wear skirts or ride a girl’s bike. Later she even went on dates with other girls.

When she became Luke four years ago Bill and Christine could not have been happier.

Christine, 58, said: “From a very early age I had my suspicions – a mother’s instinct if you like.

“She was never a lesbian. She was a boy in a girl’s body.

“I cannot tell you how much we support him, how much we love him and how proud we are of him.’’
