I don't agree with using it as an excuse to slag her off. Sorry.

Um she uses her weight as an excuse to slag herself off tbh.

Saying that though any over the top hate filled comment about any housemates will be dealt with.

Well people are using it against her because it's easy to pick at it- I think she's lovely!

Yeah but her weight is a reason people like her. Face it, if she acted like that and she was thin I bet there's plenty of people who like her now who would suddenly have a different opinion on her.

TBH, I think most are joking. But if Rebecca makes everything about how much she eats, her cellulite, her bingo wings, her love of burgers etc then that is the topic people will talk about.

I know I wouldn't have even registered she was "fat" if she didn't bloody go on about it.

Yeah I agree that her weight will get her some sympathy. I personally don't like her personality but i'm not perfect so would not even criticise her weight as I think most people are critical about aspects of their appearance:).

From a psychological point of view, Becky is displaying classic 'if I say it first you can't hurt me' behaviours. Probably a barrier she's had in place since primary school age.

I'm seeing many vulgar comments made in regards to her weight. (Not directed at anyone here , more so on the social networking sites). Personally...these thoughts reflect directly of the person voicing them. I often hear the phrase 'see the person, not the colour' well...'see the person, not the weight'. An individuals weight does not define the person.

I eat like an elephant with the munchies. Still far too thin, but yet peoples favourite insult is skinny bitch or snide remarks with regards to having some kind of illegal addiction. So I understand fully the feelings of being judged by weight.

um thats fine, but put yourself in the public eye, and more so apply for a reality show and you might expect some flak?

After the Wild Card voting began, I lost a lot of respect for most members on this website, staff included. I completely agree with this thread, and actually support Rebecca. REBECCA TO WIN!

Maybe so. And I'm pretty sure she IS expecting it. I just don't have to agree that slagging someone specifically because of their weight is fair.

As I said I'm not directing towards anyone here...but I have seen a lot of comments negatively directed at her looks and weight specifically. And when I say negative, I don't mean off the cuff remarks, I mean down right atrocious ones.

Of course, IT IS a reality tv show and contestants will be judged. I was just having my pennies worth, like everyone else :)

Which is what matters. Personality, not size!

Are we defining say, Sara by weight because she is a slender woman? No, so I don't see why anyone should do it to Rebecca.

If you are sad enough to be shallow its the size that matters

Yep. Which is the point I was making earlier.

You know what I think? That all these people saying such vulgar things must be perfect :)

Personally, I LOVE Becca, she is fun.

As for her kicking off in a few days with lack of food, what the hell? So what. Lack of food, big deal.

You all need to just calm down a little and be more respectful.

I got an infraction yesterday for saying something like this, but I'll stick up for what I think is right.

I would feel bad if she was someone who was insecure about it and stuff.

But - she got a basket full of Cheeseburgers, munched them all like some vile beast - and then smiled at the camera, in her VT. I'm sorry but she opened herself up to a eruption of hate about her weight, so she can go ****** herself. We'll take the piss about her weight if we wish, as Josy pointed out... she does it too.

Blame the producers too, they only wanted models, so discriminating against the fat/less attractive people and singling out Becky.

Can't stand this "doing it for the big girls" nonsense, where we all have to tiptoe around the fact she's fat, when she does herself no favours

Becky - 'doin it 4 da big gurlz, cus we bootiful in our own way x'

Anthony - Doing it for those of us that are slightly different in society, and incredibly unique. Also doing it for flute players.

Yes, playing the "I'm so unique, there is no one like me" card is so unique these days.

She needs to stop throwing her weight around. Just waiting for her to topple over and take a couple of housemates out.

She isn't exactly insecure is she?

She paraded around with a basket of at least 20 ****ing double cheeseburgers in her VT's. How isn't she taking the piss out of herself?

To market yourself as an interesting person because you are fat, or that your overweight physical appearance somehow is a benefit in relation to the entertainment value you will bring to the house is wrong in my opinion.

Livia
09-06-2012, 02:05 PM
She's fat because she's greedy. Intimating that it's okay to be obese is totally the wrong message. If a really skinny girl was in there singing the praises of anorexia, people would think it was a dangerous message to be sending out, and so is being so gleeful about being obese because it's just the other end of the same scale. I'm sure when she's forty and suffering with high blood pressure, diabetes and/or a whole raft of other things she's lining herself up for she won't be so comfortable with it.

Some people who are fat only have themselves to blame for getting that way and refuse to listen to professional advice, although I meant in terms of criticising Rebecca I would not use her weight against her because I am basing my dislike of her on personality alone:).
