It's because channel 5 didn't want "Big Brother" they wanted a Celebrity Cash Cow which is why they're forcing so many CBBs. So, they don't want to bother with anything they see as superfluous, which happens to be what makes BB, BB.

They'd stick purely to about 3 CBBs a year, but they probably had the main series forced on them to seal the deal.

And the last bit is very true - wasn't there talk when the negotiations where being reported that the deal was only going to be for Celebrity Big Brother? Perhaps C5 said it's either live feed or the main show, i.e. just a CBB deal with live feed included, or the main show and CBB deal with no live feed, and Endemol opted for the latter.

I am still expecting at some point (perhaps next year even) for the main show to be dropped and CBB to be churned out at least twice a year.

C5 want their answer to TOWIE/MIC/GS probably, but with a name like Big Brother they can really get it out there. They probably want to manipulate it as much as possible, hence no LF. Idk anymore I'll enjoy this series anyway probably. CBB9 was amazing and the bits of LF were brilliant TV. The ratings speak for themselves.

Its obvious that all the good things about the show are a result of the producers all the bad things Channel 5. I bet its channel 5 who tell the producers to make it 'sexy' resulting in the cheesy work out/flirtation montages. I wonder if the original breakdown in talks the first time round was over the live feed.
