Here Comes Honey Boo Boo! [premieres in UK Tues 14th]

The Honey Boo Boo girl from Toddlers & Tiaras is getting her own spinoff show, 'Here Comes Honey Boo Boo' :laugh2:

Get the Go Go Juice ready because Alana -- otherwise known as pageant monster Honey Boo Boo Child -- just landed her own "Toddlers & Tiaras" spinoff at TLC. Coming in August 2012, "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" will take us inside Alana's life both on and off the pageant circuit.

According to a press release from TLC, the show will chronicle six-year-old Alana's family life in rural Georgia where the norm is "four-wheeling through mud pits and picking up road kill for the family cookout."

"Each episode follows Alana and her family: stay-at-home mom June, chalk-mining dad Sugar Bear, and sisters 12-year-old Lauryn ("Pumpkin"), 15-year-old Jessica ("Chubbs") and 17-year-old pregnant Anna ("Chickadee").

Honey Boo Boo and her mom made headlines in January when "Toddlers & Tiaras" chronicled June's practice of giving Alana a blend of highly-caffeinated soda (i.e. Mountain Dew) and energy drink (i.e. Red Bull) before competitions.

My mom and sister are very supportive of me.

And I think she is being exploited, kids are wonderful and do amazing and funny things, should they all be tv stars for our benefit? I don't think so. I think she should be enjoying her childhood rather than earning paychecks for her mom.

Good point, but I think they were in a more controlled world, like all they had to do was recite line, and follow instructions. So there's the whole acting thing that kinda shielding them.

As far as I know, and I've never actually watched it, she is the star of a reality tv show, and she is being herself.

So the stuff she does she may look back on when she is of an age where she can consent to things, and she might really regret her behaviour on that show.

These reality shows arn't like Big Brother though, it's not 24/7 filming. I think they film for a few hours a week at specific events, and they set up certain scenarios. It's not as bad as people think. It's not like she has cameras constantly following her, or the whole house is fitted with cameras.

It's not any worse than parents who post silly videos of their kids on youtube.

Why would a pedophile be turned on by child beauty pageants? They are into children. The constant complaint about child beauty pageants is that the girls are dressed like adults, so surely pedophiles would be attracted to normal children, not children dressed like adults.

I'm one of those old fashioned people that thinks people who are speaking English should not need subtitles but if they do need subtitles then they shouldn't be on TV.

I despair that this is supposedly what producers think the public will find entertaining. I'm keep hoping for a backlash against all this sh*te on TV but it doesn't seem to be coming. Clearly the audience aren't quite as sophisticated as I hope they would be.
