A regular complaint -including by me - on C5's BB has been lack of older HMs. Aaron won last year as joint eldest and 2 Cbbs won by 50somethong paddy n denise.
However on this series the Hms considered least interesting if air time is to be considered are
- Victoria 41
- Benedict 32(only shown getting pied by clown and looking stern on HL
show)
- Luke A 31
And when you go down to next age ranges Siobhan 28 and Adam 27 they havent contributed as much as Becky 19 or Lauren 20.
Love em or hate them Aaron Lydia Chris and Becky have contributed the most and most talked about. I'm coming around to idea that although an interesting person's age is irrelevant, on balance the younger HM have more appeal. A house full of Chris' would be mad creepy and unpleasant yet compulsive but a HM full of Benedicts is worse thab Bb 4.

Never understood the demand for old housemates. They are typically the most boring.

No, Victoria was one of the most entertaining... Marcus was 36 and one of the best HMs ever. Derek BB6, Carole and Lesley BB8 were entertaining. Michael Madsen was entertaining, Pete Burns etc.

I don't get why people are considering people in their 30s as old.

Older men are often better than the younger men in this format. With the women that may be less the case. But for some reason when discussing this people tend to just lump all older people together without giving any more thought.

it depends how much airtime ch5 decides to give the older contestants I think, whether they appear more boring or not. Sure they'll probably be slower physically and run around less, but that doesn't mean they're boring.
If ch5 decided to give them more air time then as in my experience I think you'd find older people usually have a kinkier moire twisted sometimes side to them that can come out (and I don't just mean sexually) and on average they are better educated so they're thoughts and comments may be more interesting as could their actions be.It all depends on how much ch5 or BB has the camera on them.
But I don't think BB would ever have the camera on them as much as younger contestants (which has meant older people haven't had the same chance I guess) because they realize the average demographic of those who ring up to vote for the show are younger, therefore that's why they a) sometimes deliberately co0v er certain younger members more or in general b) cover younger members more than older ones.

They seem to have wanted to change the audience from a more mixed audience to one which is younger, to the detriment of the show I think.

Most of the people who think like that are still at school. Remember how sophisticated you thought you were when you were at school?
Anyhoo, it depends on the housemate, not on their ages. I'm sure we could all come up with a list of younger housemates who were a complete borefest.

I don't think that's down to their age more down to the people they chose tbh

Sure, which is even more reason why I don't get the demand for them. Why does it matter what age they are? As long as they've developed past their teenage years and maturity, it doesn't really dictate anything.

The reason it may matter is because Big Brother requires a mixture of people. So, this requires a mixture of ages with varying levels of life experience.
Regardless of age, having a bunch of like-minded similar people kind of goes against the point of Big Brother. Works best when people who wouldn't ever meet in the real world forge a friendship.

No of course not but I suppose people like to see their own demographics represented, doesn't bother me either way tbh as long as their good HMs
