On last nights HL show, Chris said to Conner, because he liked him "You - your not your normal Irish man." I wonder what he meant by this and what is his general opinion of the Irish. Or - What is a normal Irish Man?

It was a weird conversation. I don't think even Chris knows what he meant. And someone added "I've never met anyone from Jersey." Yes, they are all equally rare and they all have some sort of odd connotation: pornstars, the Irish, people from Jersey... :/

Benedicts face was quite funny. conor looked unamused.
Chris is not PC - he made similar comments to
sara about Scots and being angry.

Actual racism is forbidden, so I suppose BB put it down to being a silly faux pas. Especially since he did indeed follow it up with the unlikely implication that he was well acquainted with porn stars in general ...

What seemed most eerie was that he evidently expected Conor to take it as a compliment. If the key word had been "black", "Jewish", "gay", "Asian" etc. (or possibly if Chris did not come across as so perpetually dimwitted) then I would think that would have been a diary room summons at the least.

I don't think Chris meant any harm or offence by it, and not saying any of you think he did. He was obviously trying to say something good about Connor.
However, I think it's just because Chris isn't bright enough to work out that there is no such thing as a stereotypical Irish man or a general stereotype person of any nationality.
And it's not a good idea to imply that there is something not as good about most men 4m Ireland.
No one likes their country insulting if you want to get on their good side.

Oh actually someone did say (about Sara) that they thought it was just her Scottishness that came out
and they said they thought that's how most people acted in Scotland after having a drink.
Can't remember who but think some one said it, but may have been here before anyone starts complaining about it.
Anyway whoever said it is bang out of order. And I didn't comment on it before because it only shows their stupidity at saying it anyway.
Because I'm Scottish I found it particularly out of order though I am against the stupid stereotyping and generalization of any race or nationality.
I don't like Sara though, largely because she is a Royalist, which shows she is thick I think ( I mean it's pretty damned obvious the institution of Monarchy had to be created some how in the first place.
And pretty obvious it was created by their ancestors being the leaders of larger gangs than their neigbours had and going around robbing the neighbors land to build bigger territories for themselves and their gang as they did and murdering their neighbors and their relatives to get the land off them.
I mean if an ordinary person and their gang were to go around robbing land or property and murdering the relatives of the property holders would you or anyone else accept them as heads of state or accept paying homage to them.No you wouldn't.
You'd see them as robbers and murderers as is how the ancestors of these Royals should have been seen.So I'm against her for that but mainly because she was forcing her Royalist sheepish beliefs onto people when she was drunk and she even voted against someone for having the brains and decency not to be a Royalist.
Sorry if it seemed like I was forcing my anti Monarchist beliefs onto people, it's just Sara's stupidity forced me to come out with it.
I'm, Scottish but I was embarrassed she was when she came out with that garbage which she's just spouted because she's been told to say that by our papers and tv the f cretin.
There was no need to generalize that all Scottish people behave like that when drunk or wed all have a temper though.Maybe seems like I have here but ffs I've put up with years of cra* about the Royal family and we've had a lot of it forced on us on tv recently even when we trying to avoid it like mad and Saras BS mouthing off about them like a sheep because of what she's been taught to say in the press and tv was the final straw.

No offence my a***. No I wasn't calling anyone a bigot.I merely meant that some people who make excuses ( made that clear several times that I said some) who make excuses are doing so to cover up the fact that they are bigoted themselves. You see most adults aren't mature enough to admit to their faults or when they are wrong.
I promise I do.And I repeated umpteen times that I didn't mean everyone but that some cover over the bigotry behind their anti trans jokes with excuses because they can't admit that their is their own bigotry behind it.
Wish I didn't have to repeat myself so often. And wish I wasn't attacked for defending innocent people and that more adults were grown up enough to admit to their faults (even if there is bigotry behind it) and apologies when they are wrong.
The difference here is that I don't think Chris realized how it was wrong to generalize about all the men who were born in Ireland.
I knew exactly what I was saying and was careful with everything I wrote.
It's just a pity I had to damn well re-explain it so many times and a shame you can't appreciate applaud people for standing up to anti trans bigotry as much as you seem to not like Chris's comments which although bad are not nearly as bad as anti trans comments.May (note may) a lot that.
