View Full Version : problem with BB7...

When the show started, its appeal was that it involved 10 housemates who were members of the general public going to live in a confined space for nine weeks and seeing how they interact.
Many on the forum have remarked that BB is about 'entertainment'. This is only partly true. For me, it was not just about this, but about the psychological interaction between the housemates and to see how human beings behave in guinnea pig like conditions. It was not just only for entertainment.
Obviously, once the show is done once, the uniqueness wears off. It began as a fairly intelligent programme with a truly random mix of people going into the house.
Now the show has become a popular mass media phenomenon and is consequently losing its unique psychological perspective.
Proof of the above:-
Look at the increased number of housemates from the start,
Look at the increased number of weeks,
The attempt to tamper with nominations continuously.
All the housemates now seem to have appeared in trial runs of the show...what happened to taking random members of the public?
Look at the cliches that have emerged. They are going on what was 'entertainment' in previous years and reguritating the same characters, except these clones are losing their originality.
1) Loads of muscle men or men who are obsessed with working out.
2) Gays over represented
3) Common girls who are interested in clubbing and pulling,
4) Rapper
5) Fake boobs
6) Models/Strippers/Previous media exposure/Wannabes
Think to yourself...why are there pics of Nikki posing in her bunny suit? Why take on Miss Wales? Why bring in ONLY single people? Why bring in such blatantly vile housemates?
7) BB contestants are supposed to undergo a complete psychological analysis before they go in to ensure they are stable. I do not believe Shabbaz was stable at all. He clearly had serious issues, but was essentially used as a guinnea pig.
8) Why is there such a predonderence of unintelligent housemates. Of course this will sound arrogant of me, but none of them (save Richard perhaps) is able to have any debate at all.
I think the show is a disgrace now. Davina has also become a cliche of herself. Such a shame that the public are constantly tricked into idolising these fools, and think they are representative of society. This really is celebrity BB, just with wannabes.
I will watch to the end, because I want to see how far Richard goes, but it is a farce.

It's pretty bad this year. I spend more time reading about it on sites like this than actually watching it. I even miss the highlights show sometimes (shock horror). I am generally losing interest, and holding onto the slim hope that it will somehow improve.
This "not-so-secret" house debacle might just kill the show altogether.
I agree with a lot of your points .. mainly about HM selection. They are bland and samey. :bored:

To each their own Chris... I hate the twists this year.. but like I said, not everyone agrees, and to be fair, it's hard for BB to please everyone.
You are probably in the target audience more so than me on account of our ages, therefore it's probably better for BB that you like it and I don't... if that makes sense?..

I agree it is getting a little 'samey' but it's bound to happen with a show like this. I still think it's great entertainment though. It's the only continuous show on TV I watch religiously.

Charming b@stard then?
I agree with deep2, as our country is on a recession, our country is dieing becuase the lack of intellegence in the UK. Unlike India and China. But society in the UK will be forced to change. And it is changing, the UK is killing off the hip-hop seen trying to put in more geeky and mind simulating music like geeky rock. Soon it will change more for the sake of our country.
But what the heck... aislyne to win.

I definitely agree with the point about the predictable mix of housemates - so far, there have been 3 (I think?) gay guys in BB7 (Richard, Shahbaz, Michael), 4 women who have had boob jobs (Lea, Suzie, Nikki, Aisleyene)... and whatever else there was, y'know... We kinda know what to expect. But I love Big Brother and I won't stop watching it.

But the twists this year have been pure crapola. I'm not going into detail but they've been poorly executed or just planned for an ulterior motive..
what's also annoying me about this year is the pure hatred for some of the housemates, why do people feel the need to be so horrible? It's a reality tv show, but people feel the need to force all their moral standards on everyone, and even when "justic" is giving there is still compolaining a plenty. It's truly awful how hypocritical some so-called fans can be, it truly makes me sick to the stomach.
This years choice of housemates has had some weak points (dawn, shabaz and bonnie) but hasn't had as much unlikeable attention seekers as the previous series. But there is a distinct lack of intelligence among the producers this series, i must say.

The house mates are always the same you can look at them and see which previous house mate they are meant to be like.
I'm glad they do not have a highly camp homosexual this year it is so boring, like Marco and Khemal. The screaming gets on my nerves.
Richard is like Dan.
Jonathon is like Lee.
You can do this with most of the house mates, you can see who they are meant to be.

They tried with the camp nutter, his name was Shabazz and the trouble was he really was a nutter.
Deep 2 if you could give an award for a topic I would slap one your way.Could'nt agree more. This year the show is tired, trite and boring.Even the usually funny Russell has spent more time talkingabout his b bags than any real intrest in the show.
The producers have took a succesful formula and mucked it right up this year.Who's the executive producer Sven?
