Just not seeing it guys

Ok, so I started to watch Big Brother 9 and so far have got about 3 or 4 weeks in. But so far I just don't see why people like this one so much. None of the housemates are really appealing or likeable charisma wise to me. And the freak show aspect of it is something other series got right but this year was bordering on disturbing. Having a blind man, a couple, an albino and a big Asian girl who doesn't speak much good English just seems like ratings desperation at best, and downright exploitative at worst.

There just isn't a pleasant atmosphere to it. I love the graphics and the house don't get me wrong, and I'm sure it gets good once Rex kicks off but at the moment I just am not drawn in by it.

I really enjoyed every other year, and can rewatch series 5-7 and adore them. So what am I missing with this one? Do I have to keep watching?

I find BB9 to be overrated. Sure, it was good and a definite improvement on BB8 but nowhere near as good as some people on here always make out. Lots of the housemates were very unlikeable and there were some weeks where it was very boring. Plus BB9 gave us the worst ever female winner of BB.

I'd be worried if I were you. Big Brother 9 is the best series ever. I will accept that others may like BB3, BB5, BB6 and BB7 more than that - we can all have our opinions regarding those series, but to say you don't enjoy BB9 or feel any atmosphere in it?

As for the housemates - they piss all over the BB7 Cast and any other housemates we've had since then, BB10 had a good few.
They do not need to be 'pleasant' - infact if you like pleasant housemates, you'll love the ending of BB9 I suppose - considering who wins. :bored: But yes, sit back and watch Rex and Darnell work their magic.

It's under rated. [Maybe not on TiBB, I think DS worship BB7 and TiBB worships BB9 - but in general, it's under rated]

It's overrated. The first month is good, but the idiotic voters evict most of the good housemates. After that the only people keeping it alive are Lisa, Rex, Sara, Bex, and Luke.

The first few weeks were great, but the housemates became VERY irritating by the end, thank god Sara and Lisa were there otherwise I wouldn't have been able to watch. I do appreciate BB9 for giving me one of my most loved housemates ever, Sara Folino <3

The group of Mikey/Rachel/Mo/Darnell/Kathreya was horrendous. They totally played up to the "outcasts" role and it was annoying as ****. I actually liked some of them at the beginning but then they became incredibly tedious. Darnell was absolutely awful by the end, constantly playing the victim. Even Rex annoyed me at the end acting all hunky dory with the outcast group. I guess that's what "ruined" the series for me in a sense, because that group took over the show.

The cast just screamed desperation, it was too much of a freakshow. Rebecca, Luke, Sara, Lisa, and Rex saved the show. And great housemates like Sylvia, Steph, Jen, and Alexandra were out too soon.

Though fair dues the cast was better than BB7, but nobody in BB7 really annoyed me like the BB9 crew did (except for god awful Lea and Lisa).

But yeah, I would still say BB9 > BB11 & BB12

I didn't really like BB9 at the time. Liked it better in retrospect but still not a notable series that I would think about if you asked me my favourites.
But, if anything Nicole killed whatever the series had at that moment. Sending relatives/spouses in is a big no no for me.

I am re watching BB6 now after watching CBB4, loving it. I think part of it is nostalgia, as even though I watched since series 2, my huge fandom was mainly Big Brother 5 until 7, and didn't return to it and start watching what I had missed till a couple of years ago.

Everybody is different. I've seen them all and BB9 is definitely one of my top 5 favourites with BB6, BB10, BB5 and BB3, loved it. Apart from BB4 and BB8, I rate every other normal BB (yes that does include BB11 and BB12) higher than BB7.

I agree. Those four series' are the classics for me, really surprised that people prefer BB9 and BB10 to any of them.

Totally agree. Again maybe that is down to Nostalgia. I agree that Big Brother 7 got a bit dull after Nicki left, and she never was the same as soon as she realized she was popular. I did like the reuse of the House Next door part but that was just because we got back the best of the best HM's that we lost due to the moronic voters. That's one thing I am glad of with the Channel 5 series, at least with less mainstreamers watching they can't mess up like that.

But back to Big Brother 9. I might try some more as I only got to Sylvia's eviction. Plus my vile hatred for Alexandra didn't help, they all seemed a bit...chavy if that makes sense. That or boring. Other than Luke, need to see more of him. And as I mentioned before the freak show nature really put me off.

BB5-7 were the peak years IMO, with BB10 not far behind. BB9 was just awful in my eyes: bad house and even worse housemates, not to mention the winner. No offence to the worshippers.

I was just stating my opinion on the comment someone made about series 3, 5, 6 and 7 being the four best series. I'll admit that they are very different, but I found BB10 slightly more entertaining then BB3.

Noirin did get her own way a lot of times.The whole Issac thing was set up to keep noirin in the spotlight and to make siavash look bad.

Thats why i never get why people always rate BB8 to BB11 high on this forum. Only three HM's from each season ever stand out and they all get voted out in the first few weeks. The last great BB for me is 7 and that was even ruined in the end by the public's stupid voting out of great HM's.

I think BB commercial height peaked during BB7 after that it was over. BB10 for me was the last one worth watching.
