View Full Version : Are we killing the show ourselves

It goes without saying that the vast majority watch BB because, we as a nation, love conflict and the like. The problem is that as soon as a person pops up that shakes the show and creates conflict, WE VOTE THE BUGGER OUT. Why dont we change our views and get rid of the boring idiots first like connor and Luke A along with Benedict and maybe even Chivonne. These are nice next door neighbour type of people.
We need the likes of Chris bull dusting his way through the show, Aaron and Luke S to show us all how vain we should be, the likes of Lydia and Caroline to show our daughters how to manipulate and all this whilst Beckie eats the set. That makes good viewing.
WHY DO WE KILL THE VERY SHOW WE LOVE. Leave one goodie 2 shoes in there to win it and in the meantime we can watch the mayhem.

i agree with allot of what you are saying apart from luke A - this guy is on a journey and how hard it must be - noone of us will ever understand. the boring people like arron - luke s should be shown the door.

We, as in TiBB'ers, aren't. The forums understand that the most entertaining housemates, however horrid, must stay. Apparently we're the only ones though.

Yes, a lot of the colourful people are voted off. But the problem is that people that nominate, i.e. the housemates, nominate people who they don't want to live with. So that's usually people who create the conflict and therefore people who do nothing aren't usually up. BB should put everyone up for eviction during the first weeks and do it so that they still nominate but they don't know that everyones up and they'll just be told that people that are up for eviction have been decided but are not told to the housemates.

How can we vote them out if they are not up for eviction? Okay Conor was up in the first week, I thought he should have gone over Victoria and Lydia, unfortunately he didnt. This weeks eviction for me both HMs had contributed so it was a shame one had to leave.....
the only way we can get the Luke A's etc out is if the whole house go up..

We on the forums though are only a small part of the viewing public, it gets around a million and a half viewers and although we, as dedicated followers of BB are a likely guide as to who are likely the best housemates we are still a small part of that whole viewing picture.
It does seem that the majority of those viewers who watch and then vote, do not find entertaining the housemates a lot of us do, neither clearly do they find boring the housemates many call boring on here.It also seems that the viewers don;t like the bitching and nasty housemates that a lot on the forums do either as they vote them out.
Looking at the forums which make for good interaction and conversation and yes, also conflict between members as to the housemates, it is though in fact the million and a half viewers that keep BB on our screens and we don't hear from the massive majority of them until they use their votes in evictions.
Totally demonstated and clearly so, as last week the forums were saying Chris was far a better housemate than Arron, that Arron was boring, that Arron had insulted the public.
All polls on here had them both near neck and neck as to who was going.
The vast majority though who watched and voted, clearly disagreed with that view, they stormed Arron through and left Chris with a bit over a third of the votes cast in a straight 2 way eviction.

Therin lies the answer, I have been saying for ages now that BB are missing the biggest thing ever. PUT THEM ALL UP FOR THE FIRST 3 WEEKS AND GO VOTE TO EVICT ONLY. This way the ones that want to slip under the radar cant and the ones that have a gameplan will need to kick it in straight away.
Most of us get hyped up the longer the series gos on becasue there are better story lines and more interesting fights as time goes by. My daughter summed it up last week when I asked her what she thought about BB. She said it aint worth watching till the last 4 weeks when everyone smells gold and the arguments start. She is right, the first few weeks are boring and predictable.

Less of the we please lol
i always want the big personalities in whether i like them or not unless its near the end. but like this week proved the girls vote with their knickers not there heads. looks provail.
not much you can do. inside the house they should be voting for the boring ones but if someone annoys them they go for big ones instead everytime.
if loosing big personalities is a problem then its big brothers fault for letting so many boring housemates in there in the first place. of all the people that applied they really thought conor and co were a good idear ? it shouldn't be a problem loosin the trouble makers as there should be others. poor picking by bb not so much the public we vote who we can.

Not really people are fake when they audition and big them selves up to make themselves look more interesting, its not the producers fault if the person is boring, all they can judge on is how the person acts in the audition stage.

nah it is. thats there job they see so many people its very easy to see who will be intresting or not. my first impressions of the wildcards were all 3 are better than most they picked. there must of been more. cant excuse bb for not putting in better people.
if arron is now the house rebel then we are all doomed lol

Personally i find the conflict causers dull, shallow and far from entertaing its a sign of how low the show has sunk that it has to try and appeal to a jeremy kyle level of audience.

Oh Bobnot, you changed your post just in time, but forgive me for mentioning the obvious, DONT YOU LIKE BB, I watch and like bb but hate jeremy kyle. No comparison in my book. Jeremy kyle are the jury, we are the judges.
I mean his audience bays for the blood of guilty parties, we dont know who is guilty so we stand in judgement and erradicate the cancerous growths before they get distructive (SOMETIMES) LOL..

Conflicts are dull if the main thing about it is to appear more interesting, to get more airtime or just to be someone "saying like it is". Conflicts are interesting when they are genuine but actually then the more interesting thing is how people deal with conflict, not the conflict itself.
And the bad thing about putting everyone up for eviction is that the slow-burners suffer from it. With that being said, I don't remember any slow burners that have been good but that might just be because I don't remember, not that there hasn't been any.
It true that not all housemates have been unintelligent but many of them have been. In addition to what psychtracker said, they share the traits mentioned. And unfortunately, those that have been unintelligent stick to my mind. If the majority of the house has been people like that, even the good traits get suffocated.

Lets remember, THEY have to live together 24/7 - no books, no tv, no video (or any kind of board games for mind stimulation) - conflict will rise naturally and handling it difficult enough, without it being 'created' for 16 weeks..........Lordy, I would have gone made by now in that environment.....so give them a break!!!

These are really strong points, it is a totally artificial environment,it is easy to say I will do this or that if I got into the house but once in, the whole just being there and the restrictions will force a re-think in the main I would say.
Not being able to get way from the people you don';t care for too must be one the hardest things to cope with.
Excellent points Gaynor186.

I think we have as it is a pale imitation of its former self. I was watching Big Brother 7 this morning and it looks so much better than what we have on offer. It looks like the Real World on steroids with these inane name tags near everybody.

I heard someone mention nominate to save. That might be a good idea for the first few weeks that the housemates nominate who they want to save instead of who they want to evict, then whoever remaining is up for eviction.
It could even be at BB's leisure, whether they have a nominate to save, or a nominate to evict week.

I said something like that on another thread I think, I felt it would ensure always more people up for eviction rather than just 2 housemates.
I really like your idea too fruit_cake, that is a good one with a mix of the two ways.
