View Full Version : best big brother in years...

Actually never thought I'd ever speak highly of a Big Brother series again, but this one is awesome! I don't think we've had a series like this since Big Brother 7 when there's always something happening and things going on!
Every housemate bar Luke A and Conor bring something to the mix, and there's a mix between humour and drama that hardly ever occurs in a decent series nowadays.
If this was on C4 then people would be raving about it, yay :)!

It pretty much has everything. The humour, the bitchiness, great housemates, good tasks..
Really, really loving it. Best regular series since BB7.

Poor series. Last years and Big Brother 10 (minus the final week when most of the good housemates had gone) were much better.

Best BB since BB7.
Hated BB8 - all female start ZZZzzz (all male would have been better if anything)
Hated BB9 - dull winner and too many horribles like Dale Jen and Luke
Hated BB10- vacuous winner and best HMs failed to make final Freddie, Marcus and Angel
Hated BB11 - awful fake winner and too much Josie John James duvet crap
Hated BB12 - fairly decent series but when I look back Aaron n Harry SAVED show. Mark should not have walked

i couldn;'t stand Bea, but that doesn't mean that i can't admit that she stirred it up and made the series more interesting to watch. Her arguments with Isaac and noiren were my favourite part of the series.

I quite enjoyed it. There was a divide. Good vs evil vs the inevitable ditzy blonde actor who normally wins...
The series Josie won was, for me, by far the worst.

Worst series
BB4 and BB8. Can't decide which is worse.
Federico's sardonic put downs saved BB4 a bit and BB8 had annoying cow Charley who I hated but found watchable.

It's ok but to come close to any of the greats there would have to be live feed - without it it just feels manipulated and you don't get the whole story or feel of the events.

This is how i feel. I think the eviction of Chris has completely eliminated the chance of this being a "great" series. What an absolutely appalling decision from the public! Especially when you consider who he was up against...

I don't know whether to say it's the best series since BB9  or BB10, if it had live feed it'd probably be one of the best series ever.
I love it so much though. And I need more of it.
And you're right - it actually sickens me how much people aren't giving it a chance, if it was on Channel 4 it'd of been everywhere.

I'm really loving it.
With BB12 I just couldn't associate myself with any of them, but I feel like I really know this lot, it's a great cast! Also the bitchy arguments are brilliant.
Though I cannot simply understand why some people are like "Now Chris has gone it's all over" - Yeah he was a good housemate, but he was just cringey to watch and now Lydia is back on form so it's all cool.

All we had was Aden and Rebeckah, Aaron and Faye, Jay and Louise and silly tasks and stuff.
I love how the producers aren't even getting involved as much atm, because the housemates are that good they're making the series worth watching.
Samuel.

Faaron and Jaylou hadn't properly started at his point yet. Aaron was too busy destroying Rebeckah.

Definitely stronger housemates (particularly the females) than BB12, but only time will tell just how good it will be. If Aaron and Harry hadn't been in BB12, it would most likely be one of my least favourites, but they were and so it's somewhere in the middle of my BB rankings. BB13 could easily end up in my top 6 if I continue to enjoy it like I am now.:)

I think it's a pretty good start, and much better so far than last year. The only thing is, it's still early, and typically BB has a bit of a honeymoon period at the start. Because, it's all new..there's the establishing heirachy etc. Then it always seems to plateau, around 4-5 weeks, particularly after the public have yanked out a few of the bigger characters! We'll see how it goes, hoping for the best.

I agree. It's been a truly solid start to the series, which has given me confidence for this series. It's been churning out drama and tension like a water canon, which I guess isn't for some people (which is fine) but the majority is clearly interested.
I genuinely don't understand why some people are so dismissive of this series and consider it worse than BB12. You have all this as opposed to the nonsense we were getting last year. There's no competition.

Oh, I disagree completely.
The only housemates worth talking about this time last year were Rebeckah and Aaron. Besides that, all people did on here was complain about the editing and lack of live feed. It was certainly not very exciting.
Last series was way too heavy on fauxmances and relationships. I still enjoyed it though. But this series >

Talking about noms is spoiling it for me. They've discussed nothing else except Benedict masterbating. The housemates are okay, but it's too samey. They have a party every night, there are no punishments... I'm already getting to the point where I don't really mind if I miss it, and that's a bloody shame.

I'm not too happy about it. Last year my initial reaction to the housemates was that they are too similar but in the end they weren't. This year I thought their backstories had potential and maybe they'd be interesting but it doesn't seem that way. It's the first time ever I don't feel anything for any of the housemates. The ones I was hopeful about during the launch night disappointed me and others haven't stepped up - I mean there's not a single person I'm intrigued by. I miss all the fun moments and the laughter. I miss discussing someone's personality, debating on it etc. This series is a huge let-down.

It's an over reaction to the novelty factor of talking about noms to call this series the best for years. Strip it down and it certainly is no where near the best just a little different at the start....
My concern is by having noms talk so early that genuin friendships forming have been sabotaged for the whole series. A BB without some genuin friendships and genuin conflicts is not big brother at all.......
Talking noms and constant all round back stabbing wears thin after a week or two and becomes sterile to watch....

Lol, not liking something that you do makes someone a chav?
I don't like constant nom talk because it's boring and limits variety. I'm not interested in watching Lydia, Luke etc witter on about nominations constantly.
Does that make me a chav?
If we're generalising, I'll have a go. All people who enjoy the nom talk are bastards. Too harsh?

I am genuinely shocked and amazed! I pretty much left 4 days into C5s first attempt (and missed their next CBB),
and,
Pretty much figured that was the end. If anything it would just be more obnoxious, childish, and look even more like a flamboyant plastic dance club,
however,
I tuned in just to see how bad it had gotten. Or MAYBE I could find a Paddy or SOME genuine 'real person' just for the sake of hoping they shame the program.
Well (brace your damned self) but I am eating my words. This is actually one of THE best casts they have ever assembled.
Yes - I would STILL like to see more older people, genuinely working class types and less 'hot bodies',
but,
Somehow, they pulled this off! They found enough 'young and fit' but who are also complicated, unique, strange, more than a few are 'deeper' and mature, jaded, disturbed, a little more intelligent than may seem etc.
Honestly, I was first annoyed as hell they did NOT take a few seasons off and then return with a genuine 'reboot'.
Even more disgusted it was just a cheap 'knock-off' recycle but even more childish and superficial.
Now I'm amazed I am actually saying this - WELL DONE 5! You got it! You have got the right idea and some of the best casting (and mix of cast) of them all.
And what encouraged me a little more - Things like the 'Lab Rats' is taking it back to what BB was MEANT TO BE. You got it! And it is paying off!
Another sign of hope: Yesterday they acknowledged and even took the plss out of themselves with the over-the-top wonderworld editing. (the Bots staff beautiful friends/days of our lives parody).
Now if they can just let their world-famous narrator stop SHOUTING and get back to his classic self and may i suggest less need for OUTRAGEOUS SPARKLESSSS AND WWEEEEEEEE Laserssss!
*Now, the ONLY problem is that we still have the voting of 15 year old girls smashing mobile numbers until they remove ANY interesting people getting in the way of whatever generic hardbody 'showmance' they determine they want.

I have really been enjoying it. And people are talking about it again and unlike last year where I turned off, I find myself excited to see each new episode. I haven't felt like that since the move to 5.
For me however the format gets in the way. If these housemates and this content was being edited in the Channel 4 style it would be one of my favorites. Also I wish the show would start to take itself seriously again. Big Brother was Big Brother for pretty much the first time since the 5 when they did the nom punishment. I want harsh Big Brother back, the explanations for everything so we know they aren't in contact with the outside world (such as if they leave the house, telling us they are blindfolded. Remember that?). When they treated their audience with some dignity and didn't replay everything and remind you of everyone's names every five minuets. I miss the serious tone to the show and the coldness of Big Brother pre series 11 and won't LOVE a series until that is back. But for content once you get past the lens flares (GOD THE LENS FLARES!) and the camp glittery stupidity of the editing is very good. Certainly miles better than last year which had me shaking my head more and more with each passing week.
