View Full Version : Caroline Caroline - Laughing in the face of madness

Good evening folks.
So tonight we saw some pretty overt tactics from Caroline and possible a little more into her psyche. I am of course referring to Benedickgate. What better way to shut someone down than to just totally laugh in their face? She sat in her bed giggling away and basically made him look an idiot, very clever.
Now I might the usual "Oh, another Caroline thread", but I assure you this is different. She is destroying the enemy at the moment, we can't have Mr Wankman staying this week. So this is the time for Cunning Caroline to really shine and show us what she's made of.

*****ing can't stand Caroline, she's not even entertaining. Don't know how people like her?
If she went on to win, it will be another disappointment like when that *****ing idiot Josie won.

I think you are over reading this a bit. I don't think she was trying to 'destroy' the enemy as you say, more just trying to look entertaining for TV and because she felt awkward.

I didn't say she was trying to destroy the enemy I said she WAS destroying the enemy. Which at the moment is Benedick. Until he leaves on Friday of course. Caroline has set it in motion.

Agreed. He was being too serious and her defense mechanism was to laugh it off so others would laugh too and she wouldn't be put on the spot anymore.

The evolution of Cunning Caroline is fast becoming this season's most compelling storyline.

Exactly, laugh away and destroy his very being. She even managed to set Lydia off on a rant. Very Cunning indeed.

To be honest I thought it made Caroline look pathetic and in fact all the people who weren't able to discuss it and hit on the oh so boringly predictable wanker and dick remarks and therefore looked immature only proved his point.
What he did wrong was keep forcing the issue.
But the point he was making was accurate.
And the others were childish acting the way they did.
Caroline just looked pathetic and childish, she wasn't consciously trying to be clever I don 't think, but of course it worked and hit a chord with the prudish british public which of course was the main point of what he was saying and it is that prudishness which means we have one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates, high sd rates etc.
Lydia disgusted me tonight with saying he had come in on a mission to do it which just confirmed what I had suspicions about last night "her build trust speaking then lie" as her saying Lauren had threatened the girls to say they were bullying her so they had to be her friend was awful.

Caroline knew how the other HM's would react by just laughing in his face. I mean, were they really going to take the side of someone who admitted to wanking in the shower? Of course not. Why do you think she carried it on, she had the right HM's in the bedroom at the right time and used it to maximum effect. She managed to get Lydia and co bitching in the bathroom which is EXACTLY what she wanted.

You give her too much credit. I doubt she planned any of that. She was just reacting to the awkward situation and laughing it off. It did make her look immature. Still made for interesting tv to watch benedict get pissy.

People need to start thinking outside the box.
InOne I totally agree with you. I've not been overly impressed with Caroline up till now but thought the way she played Benedict on tonight's HL show was epic.
I think she knew exactly what she was doing. He looked really uncomfortable before he turned away then she agreed to continue the conversation. Although he'd been trying to suggest that she had been naively in the wrong he finally had to do the apologizing and ask for a hug. Caroline is a very clever girl

Finally, somebody who knows the true nature of Cunning Caroline. She didn't even have to move off the bed and she turned him into a quivering mess begging for a hug.

Given the number of HMs who were taking the matter in deadly earnest, I was quite glad that someone balanced out the mood with sheer hysterics. If the English can't find sex simultaneously embarrassing and hilarious, then all those decades of Carry On films were in vain ...

Benedict asking for a hug was the most cringeworthy moment of the series so far and to me it represented an act of subservience to the cunning queen. I think InOne is right and that Caroline has them all eating out of her hand, nobody dares stand up to her not even Mr Masturbation himself. I noticed that in the bizarre fish eye eating spectacle, hardly anyone really knew how to react, to me that's further evidence that they are scared to react in the wrong way to her.

If Caroline proved one thing last night it's that she's more silly and naive than I thought.
I just don't get the hysteria surrounding Benedict masterbating in the shower. He is not the first to do it, he won't be the last, he was not the first to talk about wanking in the house, he won't be the last... Other people have wanked in bed, in the toilet, under blankets... but somehow this time, because he's been open about it, it's been turned into this big negative thing. It's not like he didn't clean the shower. And God forbid someone says something sensible about sex, like the fact that the Brits have the higest teen pregnancy and STI rates in Europe because of our crippling inability to talk about sex openly, then obviously there has to be something wrong with him, right? And Caroline's reaction last night just punctuated that point.
Really thought she was childish and lame for laughing, and not just once or twice, but continuously laughing at him when he was trying to hold a conversation with her.
Everybody loves a good masturbation session. It IS human nature.

I do think outside the box, you may give caroline too much credit...benedict was easy, he was already unpopular. It will be interesting to see how she fares with more popular HM's.
It was a typical teacher/student interaction, if it had not been noms I doubt he would have apologised.
