So I don't even know for sure if these features can be implemented on this forum but I thought I'd ask anyway. I would assume they can though because all of the forums I've seen that had them use the vBulletin software which this forum also uses.

I've seen on other forums that they have a feature where you receive a notification when somebody quotes your post, I think it's a good idea because sometimes you forget that you've posted in a certain thread, especially whilst BB is on and there are so many new threads made every day or someone might quote your post expecting a reply and if you don't revisit the thread there's no way you're going to see that. Just like you get a notification when somebody posts on your wall or sends you a private message, you would get one telling you that your post has been quoted.

Another feature I've seen on other forums is user mentioning. You use the @ symbol followed by a username if you're specifically addressing a certain member(s). Basically it's like @replies on Twitter but on a forum instead.

So for example:

I really think you'll like this song @Ann @Red Moon

Ann and Red Moon (or whoever you address the @ to) would get a notification with a link to the thread.

Admin/mods, what do you think? :bigsmile:

Sounds great, but it will never ever happen ;)

This sounds like a great idea :D I'd love something like this, I'm always missing replies to my posts if I've forgotten I posted in that thread and don't realise until ages later. It'd be really useful I think.

Also love the @member idea

We need the '@' feature please.

as long as it's not abused by trolls and antagonising members, it could be useful.

Sounds really good if it could be implemented, Callum =).

I understand what you mean in your first idea, and it's good, but going on that you could have an option to either be notified that a post of yours has been quoted or not, seeing as not everyone wants to be notified about it.

I don't want to write "@" all the time though. Makes it more like twitter and people will slip back to awful text speak that the forum is against.

If you want too see if you're being mentioned just search the forum for your name using the feature at the top.

You wouldn't have to. It would be an optional feature and you would only use it when it suits you. I doubt they would, most active members on here don't use text speech so I don't see why they would suddenly start using it if this feature was implemented. Sure, there are members who use text speech on a regular basis and who would continue to use it with this but that's down to the mods to sort them out.

"This tune is ridiculous. Kendrick went in I must say.

@Samuel
@Roy_Mars III
@Nathan
"

Won't exactly encourage text speak to be honest. Good idea if it's possible.

Well it's been over a week since this thread was made and they haven't had a look so it would be appreciated if you could post this in the mod sub forum.
