unlike matthew here my favourite big brother memories are not petty bitching....I like to see friendships and chemistry given time over weeks to grow and see people interacting and having proper conversations and debates...maybe relationships too....that way is far more interesting and natural....if conflict then evolves over time, then even those disagreements are more interesting that the shallow nonsense we have now...I never had any time for the jade goodys , I did however enjoy the whole helena adams paul clarke afffair years ago, as it evolved properly and was natural and funny as heck... my fave housemates were the likes of dirk benedict, george galloway and michael madsen...3 very interesting ambiguous people with rounded multi layered characters...watching 2 women point at an overwieight man and mock him is the lowest form of entertainment imaginable...

In addition to magic, you also seem to have quite a vague memory and ability to take things out of context. I said numerous times that I found that situation with Shiv/Ash/Adam to be rude and nasty. You called it bullying, which I disagreed with and chalked it up to girls being girls. If you're going to cite my opinions on specific issues, at least make sure you get them right. I believe that was another example of a thread where I made a comment about a BB situation, and you were quick to attack my character as a result.

I don't recall Shiv/Ash forcing another party in the house to behave in an involuntary manner through the use of threats or intimidation, which is what coercion is. So again, no.

Not let's look at discrimination. Do shiv/ash have a prejudice against anyone who isn't 'in shape'? Because for it to be discrimination, that would have to be the case. They both seem to get on quite well with Becky, Caroline, and Scott. All of whom wouldn't be classified as physically 'fit'. You can't even determine prejudice based on a single event, it has to be a common and reoccurring bias, which we haven't seen. So once again, that's a no.

Were the comments rude? Sure. Were they discriminatory or of a bullying nature? By definition, they aren't. I'm not just making these definitions up, if you don't agree, take it up with Websters. Im cool with anyone here liking who they like, Im not interested in changing who people support, I only want people to be more objective and no so blinded. For example, I like Deana and Lauren but I am able to admit they are not perfect and are weak in some aspects.

Also, as I outlined above, having a laugh at someone isn't automatically discrimination or bullying. Everyone on this board has said something mean about someone else, at one point in their life, and the same has been said about them. You have said several rude things to me today in fact.

Last week, my friend who wears glasses, wasn't wearing them one night, and walked into a glass door because he didn't see it. We all thought it was quite hilarious and had a laugh. When I was a kid, I was golfing with friends and I fell out of the golf cart. My blonde hair got a grass stain in it that wouldn't come for a month. We laughed about it for weeks.

Thank you for copy/pasting the definitions again, although I was already aware of them, as I provided them for you earlier. ;)

I also used wikipedia for my bullying definition. I took the first couple sentences from the introduction, as they are typically the most important and relevant. Interesting how you neglected do that yourself, while visiting the same page, but instead went through the article and handpicked one particular sentence to take out of context. Surely you must know from your uni days that that's a bit of a stretch. :)

Anyways, you've completed half the task, yay! We're well on our way to having an educated and mature debate :)

For the other half, just take those definitions, and apply them to the situation in question. You can then formulate an argument as to why they're applicable in this specific scenario, in order to contrast my views. Once you've done that, you will have derived an educated opinion. I whole heartily agree :). I don't like a few people in the house, but I'd never judge another member or throw personal insults their way just because they do. It's all personal choice. Just a shame it doesn't go both ways on here with certain people.

I wasn't commenting on a situation with Caroline. I was commenting on the discussion between Ash & Shiv, regarding them having a laugh at Adam while he was jogging.

Saying negative things about someone, disliking someone, or having a laugh at someone elses expense, does not automatically equate to bullying or discrimination. Bullying and discrimination are very specific occurrences. By definition, the actions in question have to include specific circumstances and variables. If they don't, then it's not. That's not to say Ash & Shiv weren't being mean/rude/catty, it just isn't bullying or discrimination.

I see your points Matty and understand part of your views, but disagree on Caroline.... It wont stop me from chatting with you on here though :spin:

Caroline is the source of nastiness, she talks ill about others behind their backs and to their faces as well. She picks on people and spreads nastiness to the others and they do the dirty work for her. She is overly glad to see evicted people go and shows no kind of compassion for the people heading for the stairs.
