The three over age players have been announced today:
Micah Richards (24), Craig Bellamy (32), Ryan Giggs (38). Which means that the remaining 15 players must all be under 23 years of age.

Why no Becks? :(
And wtf, I guess I can understand Giggsy and Bellamy, but Micah Richards? what an odd choice...
I'm guessing Rooney didn't put himself forward?
Locke.

I don't think they can choose anyone that played at the Euro's, I don't think so anyway.
Jayson

Ah I see. Even so I doubt Rooney would have cared about the Olympics... doubt he even knows what they are, probably thinks they're a type of cereal or something.
When do we know the under 23 players?
Locke.
28-06-2012, 02:24 PM
Not too sure, but they have a friendly on the 20th so am guessing it'll be in the next week or two
Locke.

It doesn't matter who we have we have Stuart Pearce in charge so we will be ****
Bit of a nob for not picking Becks
King Gizzard

I'm surprised at Bellamy really, with his knee and that
I think one of those spots should of gone to an experienced keeper
Glad Beck's isn't there
Lost so much interest now without Becks being there

Micah Richards is a monster that's why.
Anybody remember the Under - 21's last summer? Pearce picking three defensive players for the midfield. What a manager.

But picking him over Beckham?
even worse when you consider a scumbag like Craig Bellamy gets picked over arguably the most looked up to English sportsperson ever
Locke.
29-06-2012, 04:07 PM
Bellamy is currently a better player than that old man
Jayson
29-06-2012, 04:08 PM
That may be so, but can he lead a team like Becks can? can anyone?
Locke.
29-06-2012, 04:12 PM
Not sure, can't think of who will actually be the captain with all the regular candidates not going to be there
Becks won nearly everything with La Galaxy last season he's been playing good football, Bellamy was a sub last season, Stuart Peace is a horrible bastard.. that is all
More importantly the people want to see Becks they don't want to see Rat face Craig Bellamy
Locke.
29-06-2012, 04:14 PM
The people can't wait to see Bellamy
Jayson

+ with the games being in London, support will be a big factor in how well we do, and without Becks the support wont be as strong.
Locke.
29-06-2012, 04:21 PM
People from Britain will still support the team... they might get less attention from other countries but that doesn't matter either way.
Looks like we've lost about half of the Asian viewers thanks to Stuart Pearce being a tit

Bellamy plays in the PL..Beckham jobs in the MLS
Least he actually plays and wins things for them though instead of jobbing out on the bench
King Gizzard
29-06-2012, 04:29 PM
Bellamy was one of their better players last season
Robbie Savage would look world class in the MLS

Why should Becks be picked,he lives in America now
23 assists in 41 games for Becks since the start of 2011.. he's still got it
Jayson

Why should Becks be picked,he lives in America now
Because he was one of the reasons we got the Olympics in the first place.
Why should Becks be picked,he lives in America now
Oh yes i forgot that you can't play for the country of your birth because you live in another country, thanks for clearing that one up Kazanne
Because he was one of the reasons we got the Olympics in the first place.
and that is true

it's a pleasure :joker: if we aint good enough to live in,we aint good enough to represent
Pretty much every international team would be screwed if that was the selection policy

Wish we actually took this serious like the South Americans
Not all this romantic disney fairytale with Becks captaining the side
Now that you mention it Becks leading the team out as captain with this song playing as they are walking out onto that famous Wembley pitch would be amazing
DDsmPld9Kos
And then Becks giving a nod to Giggs in the tunnel and whispering " Lets do a 99 again "

I would have had Becks over Giggs.
Both Richards and Bellamy make sense.

Oh yeah, the basketball. Fair enough.
Olympics Football just seems "meh" to me. Dunno why. Saying that I do brag about Nigeria and their olympics win and that was in 96 lol.
When will darts become an Olympic sport

I don't like sports like football and basketball being an olympic sport
Only sports where the olympics is the pinnacle should be allowed

There will be no Scottish or Northern Irish players in the men's British Olympic football squad when it is announced on Monday.
BBC Scotland has learned that manager Stuart Pearce will list 18 players from England and Wales.
Fifteen of the squad must be under 23, with Ryan Giggs, Craig Bellamy and Micah Richards the three permitted overage players.
None of the England players at Euro 2012 were considered.
Four reserve players will also be put on stand-by, should anyone withdraw from the squad.
There were Scots, including Steven Fletcher and Barry Bannan, on Pearce's shortlist of 35 players.
The Scottish Football Association, along with their Northern Irish and Welsh counterparts, have taken no direct involvement with Team GB and have made it clear they do not want their players involved for fear of risking their countries' separate identities in world football.
But they cannot block players from participating.
The women's football squad was named earlier this week , with Scottish duo Ifeoma Dieke and Kim Little the only non-English players selected.
The men's Team GB were drawn in Group A at London 2012 alongside Senegal, Uruguay and United Arab Emirates.
They begin their Olympic campaign against Senegal at Old Trafford on 26 July before facing the United Arab Emirates at Wembley on 29 July, and Uruguay at the Millennium Stadium on 1 August.
not very GB...
Should be a priority to select at least 1 from each
