you can access the site but when you try to download a torrent it doesnt work

and now im upset because this is like the best torrent site and i cant use piratebay because it is blocked by virgin

TPB only uses magnets nowadays... not sure why. I hate it too because you can't pick and choose what you want to DL from the torrent.

And they use them because it means you don't have to download the little torrent file, but they should keep an option to use the .torrents imo.

magnets just remove the need for a central torrent server which is vunerable to being taken down instead the torrent file is just held by everyone downoading the file which is safer.
if it asks for permission to open magnets just check the box that says do this every time then its the same as using torrent files.

And you can select which files you want to download within a torrent the only difference is you have to wait until the torrent starts to download and then remove the bits you dont want.
