I dont know :shocked: I think they can hear him but not what he says, maybe its a bit like the rugrats whereas he talks but the parents just hear baby talk if you know what I mean :p

I remember an episode about Cleveland and Loretta where Stewie asks if she's one of the ones who can understand him and Brian says because she's only a fringe character she'll only get the gist of what he's saying

Most of the time when Stewie mumbles insulting comments to Louis she replies with something totally different

It started out with only Brian understanding him (Lois would just reply to his insults with general "now, now" comments) but now I think he talks with just about everyone

Brian and Jillian are the only adults that seem to fully understand what he's saying; however there have been occasions when other characters have evidently understood him:

At the end of the Petoria episode (I think) they show someone watching Family Guy who asks "So yeah can they understand the baby or what?". I think it's part of a running joke that it's unclear and inconsistent as to who can understand him.
