BB is a tough series to watch when you're trying to quit smoking. I smoked for many years, quit a few years back and started again - this time, just occasionally. Two years later, and it's time to stop cold turkey.

It's tough and watching BB makes it a lot tougher. I didn't realize how much these people smoked and how their lives center around smoking. It did not help that I've been watching Celeb BB with Pete Burns and that was a chain-smoking series.

It's only day 3 and this is not easy at all.

I only smoke occasionally, but I probably would be a heavy smoker if I went into the house, mainly out of boredom

That's my problem - I smoked out of boredom. If I'm away or whatever, I don't even think of smoking. The only problem with occasional smoking is you can create more occasions to smoke and become a heavy smoker.

Same. I think I would become quite dependent on them in there, to keep me sane! It must be so hard for the housemates who were already dependent on them- Luke A, Lauren, etc- to deal with a limited amount of cigs in there!

I had stopped for about a year until about 3 weeks ago when I had a really ****ing bad craving so decided to start again and tbh I don't regret it because I feel better than I have done all year.

Seems like you need a cigarette and a good lay. Go jerk off or something and smoke a couple when you're done. :elephant:

Have they ever had anyone in there who uses an e-cig? I've wondered how they'd handle the logistics for that. You can bring juice to last for months in a small bottle, but you need batteries or a way to recharge them.

Smoking shouldn't really be allowed in Big Brother anyway.

I was wondering this too after 40 years of smoking I've finally managed to quit for over 4 months by vaping - I wonder if they would accomodate you having to recharge your batteries in there?????

Well done you - I started on a Riva and have now got a provari - it's brilliant and I'm nearly off the nicotine - I just wish I had found vaping sooner :)

Congratulations to everyone who has managed to stop smoking.
I too smoked for 40 years but gave up 16 months ago, if I had known it would be so easy for me to do I would have done it years ago. Now I just need to know how to get rid of the 2 stone in weight that i've put on as rheumatism stops me from exercising.

I smoke quite a lot these days. I think I'd go mental in there if I didn't have cigs. Potentially in a house with people you don't like and no escape from them, I'd be in the smoking area quite a bit LOL It's a shame they can't smoke in the house now, a good way to piss people off would be to smoke anywhere and everywhere.

@Maxy can you swim?

Also TBH I completely agree that smoking out of boredom is utter laziness. We all know it is one of the most unhealthy habits on the planet not mention very expensive!!! The only reason it is legal and hash isn't is because of tobacco lobbyists.

In the house it is very possible to compose a song, play some games, have a nice chat, do a workout, meditate or even just go to sleep. Use a little bit of imagination and you can find hundreds of alternatives!

That does not even begin to make sense. How is it being lazy when you're engaged in an action? I would agree that smoking out of boredom is habitual, but lazy, I don't think so. You have people who pick their noses when they're bored, bite their nails, eat, read a book, go for a walk, etc.

Just because the person is engaged in an activity you don't approve of does not mean they are lazy. If they're trying to quit and give in, I don't consider it lazy; lack of will power, ok, but not lazy.

I can't speak for all people trying to make changes, but as much as I feel that we can get engrossed in bad habits, we also should know we are capable of sticking to them. It's not easy, but definitely possible.

Anyway, back to BB!:wavey:
