New Zealand only has a population of 4 million people and they are kicking some Aussie ass lol, that's gotta sting for the Aussies. New Zealand 3 golds, Aus only 1.

I know if Canada had more Gold medals than the USA i'd be furious. Aus and NZ are basically like USA and Can.

It's a good rivalry but at the same time it's a bit underwhelming. During the Cold War when USSR and USA were both good at the same sports, it was intense as hell. But with China, they excel in the more "offbeat" sports that not everyone knows about. They stack up medals in synchronized diving, badminton, table tennis, weightlifting, etc. Don't get me wrong, it's absolutely the smartest thing to do, just makes the rivalry a bit anticlimactic.

With four medals in boxing now guaranteed, and a silver for Luke Patience and Stuart Bithell in the 470 class at worst still to come, Great Britain are now certain to win at least 48 Olympic medals.

That will surpass the tally from Beijing 2008 and reach UK Sport's minimum target.
