Do you think that it's possible for successful artists nowadays to not reach #1 on the albums charts. I mean international artists like Lady Gaga, Madonna, Kanye, Eminem..... is it actually the album and the artist reaching number 1 or is it just the fanbase buying regardless.

I have a feeling poor Cher Lloyd might miss out on #1.. she's the only successful artist I can think of.

Sorry I meant to say established artists, so basically anyone with more than two albums......obviously Gaga's the exception because of the sheer volume of sales and fans.

If the album is that bad the hardcore fans probably still would, then a lot of people would download illegally to listen, some others might buy as it's her but if it got bad reviews and they disliked the singles then I don't know, it could possibly miss out on the top spot.

Although she's no.1 atm, Florence probably.

It's crazy how she's never been no.1 before.

Yeah it's a little bit annoying how fans will buy anything and everything from their idols... means crap like 'Recovery' makes #1 :idc: /troll

but yeah I'd like the charts to start including things like Spotify streams. The commercial market is far too insignificant right now to dictate who's successful and who's not. If you look at last.fm and Spotify, the most-played artists aren't Bieber or Nicki Minaj, they're Radiohead, Bon Iver and Florence.

That's true, a lot of people use Spotify to discover new things and they're the main ones that are shown a lot on the home page for Spotify and stuff. They need to include it, the chart needs a mix up.

Dont you mean Relapse? or HTS haha

But yeah I think it has to be introduced sooner rather than later. I mean we already know that Lady Gaga, Eminem, Katy Perry and whoever else is releasing thats big will get number 1.....
