Big Brother 2012: Conor's mum insists he's not
a bully
July 22, 2012 17:18 by Josh Darvill
Conor gagged

Conor gagged
Mum of Big Brother housemate Conor McIntyre
has insisted that her son isn’t a bully.
The comments come after more than 1,000
complained about Conor’s outburst against
fellow housemate Deana last month, leading to
an investigation from telly watchdog Ofcom.
Conor’s mom Siobhan insisted however that his
rant rant was just a “one-off”.
“He’s not a bully,” she insisted. “His outburst
about Deana was a one-off. Being in that house,
he’s in a state of captivity. He was frustrated
and angry.”
Conor was given an official warning by Big
Brother after the incident, but was allowed to
stay in the house.
His mum meanwhile blamed Irish culture on his
comments being taken out of context.
“There needs to be an understanding that Irish
people are very direct in how we think about
things,” she explained. “There’s been a bit of
misinterpretation of Conor’s culture.
“We are very fine Irish family with good morals.
Everything I’ve seen I’m very proud of. I don’t
think he realised what he was saying.”

My pet hate is when family parents partners friends insist their loved one is not a bully/ homophobe/ racist. How would they know?
Its not as if you'd be a bully to your dad etc.

Well she totally contradicted herself there, she's proud of what he's saying yet she thinks he doesn't realise what he's saying.. come on lady.

I don't understand why family members don't take the smart route, even if they don't agree - if she'd said he isn't normally like that, probably didn't realize how it sounded, and will be absolutely mortified when he gets out, people would be more sympathetic. Even if it's complete bs and she didn't mean a word of it, it makes him harder to criticize. When she spouts off that he's just "misunderstood", it strengthens the idea that it's no wonder he ended up like he did.

Absolutely ridiculous, I get it, you stand by your family.

But if my son had gone into the house and said what Conor had said, I'd have been absolutely disgusted with his behaviour and I'd have felt a sense of 'where did I go wrong?'

Proud of his behaviour , all parents think their kids are angels - but this woman has had living colour proof of how he behaves !! Proud my arse , still who wants to admit their son is a tosser - Not her obviously

Wouldn't she have been better saying nothing at all rather than dig that hole he is in even deeper?

Surely if Deana had said she would like to ram something up his ****, his mum wouldn't have been so understanding then.

Conor doesn't represent the Irish and their views and his mum can stop trying it.
She is his mother so she's excused as the maternal bond can make some women

If it was just left with the rant I;d honestly think it was just mob mentality and a fairly unintelligent man, but since he kept going and sneering at Deana (kind of creepily) I don't think it was mob mentality.

He might as well of actually done it the way some of the extremists rant about it on here.

This woman is seriously deluded. Conor does not represent Irish culture in any way. I think maybe he represents his own family pretty well though ;)

Blame for what. It was a dumb thing to say, but people have blown it up to ridiculous amounts.

IMO, it should have been blown even more, not enough was done.

Agree,Yayita.
I have been viewing since BB1 and it was easily the worst outburst directed towards another HM.
Several HMs have been ejected for much less severe and much less deliberate insults.
His was a criminal verbal assault with very insidious, threatening sexual undertones.
