View Full Version : Conor Why the support?

Why do people still support Conor? Are they ignoring or forgiving his viscious rant about Deana and the way he is gunning for her at every turn? Name three qualities about Conor that you admire if you are a fan. How can ANYBODY forgive him for the sexual nasty rant he had about a nice and totally undeserving housmate?

I dont support him...I cant stand him but you can hardly keep harping on about that 'comment' regarding Deana.
IMO worse things were said by Caroline about Adam....but Adam fans did not keep harping on about it for weeks on end.

As people have said Deana has just about wound every housemate up in the house....even Adam and Luke... so there is obviously day to day things we dont see on the highlights... I dont think she is the totally 'nice' and 'deserving' housemate we you been led to believe.

Right, this insulting fans of a housemate you dislike thing has to stop. This includes calling them trolls or saying they support them just to wind others up. Everyone is entitled to an opinion without being labelled in such a way.

I find him funny, he doesn't take himself too seriously, he's one of the few this series just up for having a laugh and enjoying their time in there.. sure he has angry moments and sometimes has a rant and a bitch but he doesn't dwell on things too much or go around permanently pissed off and miserable, and he doesn't try and make himself out to be a saint either. He's a great wind up merchant as well, I know a lot of people might not find his sort of humour funny because a lot of it's just banter but I do, and even though he takes the piss a lot he's pretty loyal to his mates in there

The epilator rant was stupid but got blown out of proportion imo, and a single rant like that isn't enough to put me off someone for the whole series, and if nothing else at least he's been entertaining and a big character in there

example 3 - "Flamingos are actually blue because I have my own mind"

yeah that too

but hes also so sure of himself, thinking he can get away with things, probably why he said those to Deana

he also accuses other people of being sneaky, yet he and luke S are the ones who planned to keep in secret regarding the talk of nominations from the beginning.

there is no stand out moments from him that will be remembered after the series is over, other than hes unjustified attack on Deana. (which he can be proud of and an inspiration to the youth)

You are quite right of course; you know a housemate is a bad'n when their supporters endlessly trash other housemates instead of writing about their chosen one's virtues.

Putting aside the vile things Conor has said, my main problem is this idea that he's 'fun'. I think he's about as funny as toothache. It's all false laughing with bared teeth: how many times did he squeal with laughter at something Caroline said or did, when he obviously didn't even understand what was going on. Then there's the stupid little games he and Luke S play with Becky, all for the camera, they're not funny at all, are they? They're just annoying really. If you add the fact that he holds onto a grudge like a rabid dog, there's not much to like in my opinion, but a lot not to like.

Thanks to everyone who replied to the thread I started. Sorry if some of you thought it was pretty pointless. It all stemed from me reading so many people saying they wanted Conor to win, he was the best housemate, he shouldnt be hated or disliked. I dont share these views but I was anxious to know what people based them on. I agree Conor apologised but Im not so sure it was genuine. I felt that if he was genuinely sorry he would have laid off Deana a little bit. Deana is no saint either and I can see how she might not be everyones cup of tea but Conor hasnt given her a single break since the first night she nominated him and I dont like people who hold grudges. Interesting discussion though and again thanks to everyone who contributed xx

You think calling someone a name is worse than threatening to ram an epilator into a woman's genitals and knocking her out?

Caroline should have been kicked out for calling Adam a gorilla. It was disgusting, but I don't think, imo, it was worse than threatening sexual violence against another person.

I don't have a problem telling people why I like Conor, but it does get tiresome when it never really gets taken on board or people can't accept it, and you just get shouted down or accused of being a fan just because of his looks/because he's Irish/because you're a racist/etc.

MTVN - You are one of the few people who have articulated why you like him and I respect your reasons and your opinion.
I really really WANTED to like him as I’m from N. Ireland too and I was excited that someone from our country was going to be on BB. But since his awful rant about Deana I just can’t like him – or anyone else who would say what he said – and the way he said it. I’m not a fan of Deana’s in particular (Scott is my fav) so it’s not about being a rabid Deana fan. What made it worse was that has never owned up to her and apologized personally and he kept the whole hate thing going with her even when she tried to sort things out with him. He knew what he said about her, and that she didn’t know, yet he still treated her badly. If he was truly sorry he would at least have tried to make amends by being civil and friendly toward her. That’s why I can’t forget what he did even though it was a while ago.
Apart from all that, I find him uncouth and quite thick. He seems to revel in the discomfort of others and his main reaction to any problem is ‘I don’t give a ****’. I don’t recall a single truly entertaining Conor moment – unless it laughing his ass off at someone else’s expense. And tonight he had the cheek to criticize Luke A to Becky for what he said after he said much worse about Deana! He has no sensitivity or moral compass as far as I can see.
I know you were a big Jay fan last year, as was I. Some people have compared Jay with Conor –but there is no comparison. Jay was far from perfect – but he had a good warm heart and a basic honesty about him. I see no redeeming features in Conor.
Those are my reasons for DISLIKING him and I just wanted to explain why in some detail.

That's fair enough, I'm not going to justify that rant or how he's been with Deana in general (even though I don't like her either and think there's valid reasons not to) and I can understand why people dislike him, although I think he does realise he's been a bit of a bit of a dick at times in there, I remember Caroline saying after her warning for bullying she mentioned that her and Conor had both agreed they've been more bitchy and stuff than they would be on the outside world.

I've seen the Jay comparison too, I actually think they are quite similar in terms of their humour and how they're both quite laid back and like to take the piss a bit, but I agree Jay was more open and honest. In some ways how Conor deals with his dislike of Deana reminds me more of Aaron, how he always just tried to keep away from Jay and ignored him when he tried to make amends although I doubt that comparison would go down well here
