View Full Version : Deana Deana - Race Card

Since a lot of Deana dislikers seem to throw this around i have a question
When did Deana throw around the race card?
i want a full explanation, with examples, possibly with links?
because i seriously have not seen her do this once, and i think yes you can dislike Deana, but she has NEVER brought up her race as a way to victamise herself, neither have her supporters..
When people say it would be a victory like Shilpa this annoys me too - Are people only comparing her to Shilpa because shes indian? if so i think that's really wrong - sorry..:nono:

I don't like Deana but I agree, I don't think she has ever played the "race card", I guess it stems from that stupid Star article about the "new BB race row" where they completely made a story out of nothing and twisted her words

Yup, it just is pathetic that because she is Indian, people throw race into it :(

I remember that being brought up but it wasn't by her, iirc it was Lydia that suggested it.

No what she (apparently) said was:
“Chris hasn’t spoken to me at all and he’s spoken to everybody else. I’ve not done anything for him to not like me. I’m beginning to wonder if it’s because... you know? You know what I mean?”
Which could have meant anything really but the Star made it out to be a race thing http://www.dailystar.co.uk/posts/view/257011

Yes. It's not very clear what she meant. :conf:

Deana has never played the race card in the House as far as I can remember, I think Scott may have played it inadvertently when talking about ways of eating food. Deana I think has coped remarkably well in a house not overflowing in intelligent conversation and witty debate. When she did try and start a reasonably serious conversation about politics with Sara she was met immediately with hostility.
She cannot win either way.

Vanessa is right - she did throw the race card out in week 1 during a conversation with Lydia out in the BY. That's the reason I started disliking her and have not liked her since.
I do agree with the HMs that's she's very boring and cunning and we don't see much of what goes on in the house with her. A lot of people have commented on how her 'personality' only comes out when she knows the cameras are focused on her.
She thinks she should be liked by all and if someone does not like her they're racist, bullies, jealous, etc. She's a total bore.

You were the first person on this forum this season to mention Shilpa, and liken Deana to her in a negative way. I'm sure you will deny it but you know you did and I know you did. We all know how you feel about Shilpa - another Indian - and how you feel about Jade Goody, a girl who was so stupid she probably didn't even realise she was being a racist. But the British public knew, and voted Shilpa the winner. Not because Shilpa was playing the victim, but because decent British people generally won't stand for racism.

Trying to figure out if the reason someone dislikes you and bringing up race as one of the potential possibilities is NOT pulling the race card. That is taking all factors into account and being reasonable.
Pulling the race card is accusing someone of racism to gain an advantage.
Forbidding someone from mentioning their own race without being accused of something seems a little impractical.

I wish to heck someone would tell me how you play this card.
Do you simply have to be surrounded by people who look different in colour?
Can only women play it?
What happens if someone really does hate your skin colour? Are you by default playing it?
What happens when you're mixed and people think your either one or the other can you throw this card around then?
I haven't seen Deana with any cards but lots of people seem to want to hand them to her.

Night one when I saw how she looked all the girls up and down like they were dirt on her shoes, i knew what we were in for, and seeing her call Chris is a racist just confirmed it .....everyone whos questioned her about her lack of personality and her attention seeking has"picked on " her or her fav saying"why are they nasty to me" Deana needs to take a long ,cold look at herself and see she is not what she thinks she is
