Gary Barlow Thanks Fans For Support After Losing Baby

Devastated Gary Barlow has reached out to fans to thank them for their support after his fourth child was delivered stillborn.

The Take That star's wife, Dawn, went into labour on Saturday (04Aug12), but the baby girl did not survive.

Barlow released a statement after the heartbreaking news, saying, "Poppy Barlow was delivered stillborn on August 4th in London. Our focus now is giving her a beautiful funeral and loving our three children with all our hearts. We'd ask at this painful time that our privacy be respected."

He took to Twitter.com on Wednesday (08Aug12) to let fans know he has been touched by their messages.

Barlow writes, "Your kind words and lovely messages are overwhelming. Thank you."

The star's devotees have rallied around the singer since the news broke, setting up a donation page on a charity website, which aims to raise $160,000 (£100,000) for stillbirth and neonatal death charity Sands in memory of Poppy.

RIP Poppy. God bless you.

I don't really understand still birth. does it mean the baby was dead for a while before the birth? or does it mean that the baby dies during the actual birth? You would think in this day and age of modern medicine they would be able to tell if a baby is dead before the actual birth.

I've heard of the umbelical chord getting wrapped around the babies neck, maybe that's what happened here.

i think still birth means the baby was already dead

miscarriage is when the baby dies during birth

Isn't miscarriage where the baby dies before birth?

Miscarriage is before 24 weeks, stillbirth is after 24 weeks, though it's mainly full term which is just the most horrible thing :(
