Less than 500,000 people watched Big Brother last night, the show’s worst viewing figures in its decade long history.
An average audience of just 483,000 tuned in from 9PM to 10PM to watch the penultimate episode of highlights from the house, which went head to head with the Olympics closing ceremony.
While the show held up reasonably well against the Opening ceremony two weeks ago, with around 800,000 viewers, last night’s show crumbled against the opposition.
Ouch :joker:

Little wonder, the house has 4 boring HM,s and 1 gameplayer left to choose from, hardly rivetting viewing. Ill bet the final tonight wont get the million mark.

really is sad bb isnt popular anymore.
former C4 BB fans would of loved this series, but just arent giving it a chance on C5.
i was the same last year, but my mate said bb 2011 was class, so decided to give bb 2012 a chance, and its been worth it.

That is absolutely horrendous viewing
the producers had no choice though, couldn't put it on before watershed, and the closing ceremony was on all night

..And, It was an amazing episode.
I'm actually so sick of this. I want to know what the **** is wrong with our society, that people would rather watch moronic wankers on TOWIE or Geordie Shore - over the daddy of Reality TV?
This is an actual joke.

i am disapointed with this news - not sure if it is true - i think we are left with 4 decent people and one looser LukeS - the way BB should always pan out but dose not always ie conor getting 50G.

I don't think any show would have had a chance against the closing ceremony, the olympics have been such a great success and the nation in general have watched and enjoyed it right through, plus we were promised a decent concert.
I recorded BB and watched it this morning.

Well who the hell wants to watch gimps like Luke S constantly flirt with himself in the mirror and generally just be a complete cringey knob-head :yuk: not good viewing at all!

I never saw it last night, one of the most boring finals ever.
They are not allowed to put it on at 8... its before the watershed
but they show a repeat everyday at lunchtime anyway so i'm sure they could bleep any swear words for 1 night

The low viewing figures is purely to do with it being on at the same time as the Olympics closing ceremony! Nothing to do with people hating the housemates that are left in there... :joker:

I'm not surprised it was the closing cermony, i did sky + it and watched it after the closing cermony and i loved it i actually cried that it's coming to an end, i'll be crying again tonight i should think, most people wouldn't watch if there not a fan of the people left in there, but i love the outsiders so i'm happy with this final, i wish Sara would stop crying she's annoying me.

Tonight there's a second episode of Eastender's. It's a big week for them with Sharon coming back and the Heather murderer reveal. Second ep is head to head with the final at 9pm.

Every year they do the same thing, they vote out the interesting HM,s first leaving the boring ones. Go back to vote to evict and we will vote out the bores first. then get us live feed and ch5 will have a recipe for sucess. Rename the vote to evict the bore and it will stop people like sara getting to the finals.

Or maybe it was because of some big event on the other channel. I know which one i think!
It was slightly over the 500k mark with +1 figures included - 33,000 watched at 10pm, giving it a total of 516,000

C5 scheduling was stupid this year.
First they were up against Euros and didn't move when England or major teams played then kept clash with Olympics. Personally I think the show should have started 3 weeks early than it did to avoid Olympics

No. Jesus Christ. It's 2012, anyone who doesn't have a Sky Plus box by now or the ability to record Big Brother, isn't even relevant.

So when there was 8 up including Sara, do you think she would have gone in a vote to evict over people like Conor Caroline Deana? No chance.

For ratings purposes, recording does not count. If you want BB to stay (although production sucks so bad), people who are ratings panelist need to watch it live and not just record it.
I thinkl they are working on a digital ratings method to come in the future. However advertising will lose seeing as people fast forward or dont record ads at all.

Personally I am even surprised it got to that with the Olympics closing ceremony being on for so long.
I can't believe 500,000 people didn't watch the Olympic Closing Ceremony.

Just because you personally find the remaining housemates boring, it doesn't mean everyone does... :xyxwave:

22.94 million (80% share) watched the closing ceremony btw.
Last night low viewing figures really couldn't be avoided. I didn't even watch BB last night, I watched the Closing Ceremony. I watched BB online today.

considering the olymipics got 26million and 85% of the viewing public, it isn't a big deal. It's held up pretty well this year considering the competition and Channel 5 will know why it's been so slow. We all knew this was coming.

The closing ceremony was pretty average though, the 500k people didn't miss out on too much
