Luke Anderson branded 'worst Big Brother winner since Rachel Rice'

Luke Anderson has won Big Brother 2012, but some fans of the programme are less than impressed with their new victor.

Luke, who was announced as the winner of Big Brother by Brian Dowling on Channel 5 tonight, exited the famous house £50,000 richer after taking home this year's prize money.

But it seems some viewers at home were less impressed with the new Big Brother champion, with one dubbing him 'the most boring winner since Rachel Rice' on Twitter.

Rice, who won the reality show when it was in its ninth series and airing on Channel 4, is widely accepted by Big Brother fans to be one of the least controversial and more tame of the show's victors.

And with similar traits to Rachel, it seems Luke is also destined to fade into obscurity after beating fellow housemate Adam Kelly into second place in tonight's live final.

Another Big Brother fan wrote of Luke: 'such a boring housemate, who the hell voted for him?? #bbukfinal'.

But clearly, the newly crowned Big Brother champion has his admirers, with one fan tweeting: 'So much love for Adam - youth-worker, a wise, wise man and a solid friend. Hilarious to boot. Grade 'A' housemate.'

'It's great to feel acceptance,' Luke told Brian Dowling of his win. 'I don't think it's sunk in yet. A big part of it was about acceptance. All my life I've been an outsider. Thank you so much.'

Luke, who was closely allied to Deana Uppal and Adam, found himself in the final three with the pair of housemates after the trio proved the most popular with viewers.

Deana, who came third overall, was booed as she left the house, but Adam and Luke both emerged to cheers and a warm greeting from their families.

Luke said of the house divide: 'It was pretty traumatic when it was at its worst. You did feel alone in the house and that's how [Deana, Adam and I] found each other. Without Adam and Deana I would have been alone all the time.'

Luke's victory brings to an end the 2012 series of Big Brother, which saw numerous controversies and scandals, many of which revolved around racism and bullying rows.

Channel 5 is set to launch this year's second series of Celebrity Big Brother on Wednesday, with Martin Kemp, Samantha Brick and Cheryl Fergison rumoured to be entering the house.

LukeA wasnt the most entertaining - deana was - but he really did have a massive fanbase - largest "Appreciation Thread " on DS which I underestimated.


His fanbase isnt young trendy supporters who go on Twitter (see Sara and last years Alex), which is a good thing as they dont vote!

His backstory gave him depth that everyone else bar deana n adam lacked.

Lol, here come the usual sour grapes, especially from supporters of some of the viler HMs. No coincidence that the winner last year was in his 30s and the winner this year is also in his thirties. Does that give anyone at Channel 5 the slightest clue? Most of the silent majority who don't posture and bitch on the forums are the ones who actually vote, and they are sick of the vacuous, thick wannabes that BB has attracted in recent years. Channel 5 learnt nothing from the failings of Channel 4 did they?

I wanted Adam to win, but I'm happy with Luke A - once more a victory for the GBP who refused to be manipulated by the biased editing and blatant favouritism of certain particularly vile individuals both last year and this. Wake up producers and allow the show to evolve organically without your interference and manipulation. If you had done so this year, we would maybe have had a far better show with the interesting ones who had been ganged up on in the early weeks staying much longer.

Congratulations to Luke A - a victory against the "yoof" worshipping idiots who have run BB the past two years.

Great result imo I really wanted Luke A to win but I wouldn't have minded if Adam won either - fabulous last 3 HMs and a good end to a bit of a dismal series. I totally agree with Angus - put more older people in the house - it's us who have the money to vote after all :)

Luke A is not the worst winner, Aaron was far worse, but i'm no Luke A fan. i can't remember anything memorable about him. He's not a particularly likable person eigther.

I think Adam deserved to win, but an American will never win BBUK, especially not an ex-con, black, American.

Lauren would also have been a good winner, but she didn't even get close.

I actually wanted him to win, out of who was left in the final, because he seemed one of the most genuine people in there. I didn't feel any sympathy towards him. I don't really get that. Why do people need to sympathise with him? I don't really think any of them deserved it. It wasn't the most compelling of series, to be fair, and there wasn't one person who really stood out and I really wanted to win.

Really an awful winner. Ruined the whole series for me. Lauren should have been in final instead of him. Sob story worked, BB turned into charity.
