Julian Clary, born in 1959, is a comedian and television personality.

As a teenager, his eldest sister Frances influenced Julian, she was starting her career as a Tiller Girl and Julian was fascinated with the illusion created by her heavy make-up.

Julian studied Drama and English at Goldsmith's College, University of London in 1978. He said his time at university was liberating and he could finally be who he wanted to be as he was with people with similar dramatic interests.

After graduating Julian began working on the cabaret circuit in the early 80's. His act was known as ‘The Joan Collins Fan Club,’ which comprised of himself and sidekick pet Fanny the Wonderdog.

Julian appeared on many television shows such as Sticky Moment, Terry and Julian, All Rise, Prickly Heat, Its Only TV But I Like It, Come And Have a Go, The Under Dog Show.

In 1993, he made an infamous appearance at the British Comedy Awards where he made a joke comparing the set to Hampstead Heath and stating that he had just been “fisting” the then Chancellor of the Exchequer, Norman Lamont.

Julian continues to tour the UK, Australia and New Zealand with his one-man shows. In 2010 he completed a 140-date tour of 'Lord of the Mince, a celebration of my twenty-five years in the camp spotlight: how I got there and why I refuse to leave.’

Towards the end of 2012 he will embark on his latest tour, 'Position Vacant - Apply Within,’ where Julian will be scouring the UK in search of love. Position Vacant - Apply Within is dedicated to one thing; finding himself a husband. He promises to leave “no straight unturned.”
