BBC1's Sparkhouse attracted an average of 4.8 million viewers before the 10 O'Clock News, according to unofficial overnight figures.
This fell to 4.4 million for the concluding part of the romantic drama which clashed with the announcement of the celebrity survivor winner.
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and the penultimate episode of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! were also ratings successes.
