I am so sorry to hear that. So many undeserving people are referred to as legends, but he was a real legend.

US astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the Moon, has died at the age of 82, US media report.
Earlier this month he had surgery to relieve blocked coronary arteries.
He walked on the Moon on 20 July 1969, famously describing the event as "one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind".
Last November Armstrong, along with three other astronauts, received the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest US civilian award.
He was the commander of the Apollo 11 spacecraft. He and fellow astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin spent nearly three hours walking on the moon.

A truly great American. A name that will live forever. I'm sure most people would love to have even half a legacy as great as this man. His name will live on in history books for all time.
Rest in Peace Neil Armstrong.

I reckon he should be considered as one of the only legends.... the word is thrown around too much.....this man actually stood on a different planet. All these years later it's still remarkable..... I will give a wink to the moon tonight if I see it.

If you look through this website (http://www.clavius.org/) you will see that the claims of the conspiracy theorists do not hold any water.
I have also done two videos myself to debunk these claims
This one

And this one

Making such claims undermines the main achievement for which we remember him by and debases his memory by calling him a liar and a fraud, the antithesis of the truth.
If you wish to persist with making these spurious claims then I would suggest you start another thread here, so others can continue with the tributes to a great man. Or you could register with this forum (http://cosmoquest.org/forum/forum.php) and try your luck here.
Would it be more appropriate if a mod could split those comments off into another thread? :conf:
Meanwhile
Neil never claimed to be a hero and always gave credit to the many others working at Mission Control. After he left NASA he went into quietly teaching aerospace engineering. A truly great man who preferred the quiet life rather than the razzmatazz of the fleetingness of fame and celebratory.
We will not see the likes of his kind again.
Farewell old friend

A very sad day, a true American hero...to live with the guilt and the lies for so many years must have broken his heart. To carry around with him until his dying day the knowledge of what really happened and to know you could never ever tell a soul must have been unimaginable...no wonder he became a recluse and never spoke happily about his alleged Moon landing
As I say a true Patriot..R.I.P Neil Armstrong

..no wonder he became a recluse and never spoke happily about his alleged Moon landing
So why do you not believe they landed on the Moon? Have you had a look at that site I gave the link to in my previous post?
You are effectively calling Neil a liar and a fraud.

My thoughts go to his family and friends. He was a great man who will always have a place in History as will the rest of the crew.
Here is what Buzz had to say about the man - http://buzzaldrin.com/buzz-aldrins-official-statement-on-the-passing-of-neil-armstrong/
