View Full Version : BBAUS feels way more plastic than both BBUK and BBUS

DO you guys agree that BB Australia feels like the most edited and manipulated BB?

I'm trying to get into it, because i've been looking forward to it, but i just can't get into it. It all seems so controlled and manipulated and contrived to me.

I feel like we arn't seeing anything. The way that it's edited i feel like it's being edited for 10 y/o's.

It's clear that they want us to feel sorry for Bradley, and we are suppossed to care about the Ryan/Estelle showmance, but other than that, i feel like i havn't seen anything. Oh and they let the Gay guy say something silly once and a while.

I don't feel like i'm watching a house full of people though.

What do you expect with 30 min HL shows aimed at a PG audience

yup its "family friendly" its aimed at teens and thats the main demographic that is getting the views for them..

and ofcourse its PG and its at 7pm/7:30pm so nothing like swear words ect can be aired.

its very edited and very bleeee compared to BBUK

I think it's about as plastic as the British version has been the last 2 years. They even copy some things from it.

I've never watched, but only a 30 min HL show? that sounds ridiculous

Yep and 6 days a week as well. so basically 20 mins of footage a day

Yeah from what I've seen it all feels a bit - and I hate to use the word - fake.

Anything without much live stream is likely to be fake. Only a few shows are 20 minutes though.

I agree, the editing seems very strange. I completely know what you mean when you say that "we are hardly shown anything".

This is true.

They also take footage out of context for certain things - footage that they've actually shown us the real context of before, which is ****ing weird.

BBUS is extremely "plastic" as well so I'm not sure which is worse.

The American one is a game, the British and Australian ones pretend it isn't even though it is and make it more about showmances and who looks 'fit'.

It may be sanitized and manipulated, but IMO Big Brother is meaner on BBAU -- stern in the diary room and far more punishments for rule breaks.
It's refreshing, compared to BBUK where rule break punishments only seem to be for talking about noms, resulting in lost hot water. Boring.

Plus, more female eye candy.

Thats only because of there being hl 3 nights a week though. The show is not edited that badly given that it all has to be condensed. PLus BBUS has housemates who are all fake and playing the game. Therefore most situations are created for strategy and so are fake/plastic. BBUS never claims to be a reality show.

The punishments arnt very bad though, and they are taken as a joke. Having to write on a blackboard like bart simpson, or having to sort different colored m&m's isn't a very severe punishment. I'd rather do those than lose hot water.

Watch the 1st one the States did. It was a reality show. cBS made it into a game show after that.
It's also why I have no high expectations of BBCanada.
Considering its being produced by Endemol USA.

But about BBAU. I was whoooo hooo when it was announced it was coming back. Now into its 3rd week, It doesn't bother me if I watch it live or not.
The Naughty Corner is a joke. & you could tell it was going to become one after Ben? whined after not wanting to blow up any more balloons (he did that yes?)
So right after that you could tell who was going to start running the house.

I dont like how they have yet to do proper noms.
They messed it up by the Boys vs Girls for the first two ones, then just to continue to screw it up they throw in a "super power"
Let these people nom normally in the DR in a chair.
If that super power stays the same for next weeks & later it was stupid of BB to tell the other HMs what it was.

The talking objects are so over done now. UKs tree was the first then Israel had the fish.

Sonia with her Cray Cray, Nom Nom, Ray Ray, Ry Ry garbage has to go. I'm not 2 years old. I know how to spell & say these words.

Im still watching it but, I have no plans on hoping it will be any better.

I feel like I'm watching a comedy show rather than Big Brother.

After what i've seen with BBAUS so far i'm MUCH more exited for BBCAN.

I think it will be interesting to see if Canadians really are as "nice" as the stereotype says. Will they really be so much more friendly and lovely and non-compeditive as people always think of Canadians? I doubt it. I think there are lots of Canadians just chomping at the bit to play this game. they are ready to play!

I think the Canadians will get just as cut throat as the Americans are.

I think it's gonna be good.

Why does it have live streaming then?

the live streaming is not the SHOW, as we are constantly reminded by the people that watch the feeds...

The American Big Brother is waaaay better than UK's and way way better than ours. I wish Australias was the same format as Americas.

I wasn't sure about BBAU at first... but I'm loving it more and more everyday now.
It certainly isn't as "plastic" as the US or the UK I think. The people seem genuine to me compared to this last season of UK. UK casting has gotten progressively worse each season that I have watched (about 5 ) and US casting is just cookie cutter stereotypes each season. Its a refreshing change and its fun to watch BB play with their minds a little bit. It has the feeling of being more of a social experiment and less of a cash grab.

On a side note, I'm from Canada but I am not looking forward to an American style BB coming here. I wish it were more like the UK or the AU format because I think this would be closer to our roots.

Closer to your roots? this is the first season of BB Canada, you have no roots.

BBUSA has been shown in Canada for a long time, so if anything BBUSA is your roots...

Right now the only thing I watch everyday is BBUS and thats b/c I have the feeds and I know whats actually happening. I've gotten tired of watching BBUK b/c I feel like Ive been watching it for soooooooooo long. I think 3 seasons in 1 year is just way too much. But I actually dont mind the casting, the casting for BBUK13 was AMAZINGGGGG. The reason I agree w/ BBAUS being "plastic" is b/c there is hardly any arguments and b/c the highlight shows are so short I still feel like I dont know any of the houseguest and its been 3 weeks! Im just excited for BBCAN so I can just see something fresh.
