So many tales about JG on Corrie being a harridan diva rude ruthless obnoxious a demanding demanding diva on Coronation Street (soap she featured on) that i never believed. Just thought it was tabloid exaggeration. Can believe them now.
Rumour has it she was so nasty she made Bill Tarmy cry repeatedly (Jack Duckworth) when their fling was over apparently.
And when she made her big return she made life hell for the younger cast who didnt revere her enough.

There's no smoke without fire as they say,Julie Goodyear is too full of her own importance to ever be a nice person,a truly foul woman all round, she doesn't get the reputation she has for no reason,it's beyond me what some people find nice about her.

Well that and she couldnt handle the pressure (she expected to be waited on hand and foot like the old day)

No one person is bigger than the show, she should have been warned about her behaviour and then threatened with her character being "killed off". It that didn't do the trick then sadly I see Bet Lynch dying a horrible death in botched armed robbery on the Rovers Return....!!!

CS is now a different show. Its now 100% plot driven. Big iconic characters like Bet Lynch are from a bygone era. Its about iconic SLs now.
The characters now are mere conduits to affairs explosions pregnancy rivalry and alcholicism. Characters are now safe identikit interchangeable and generic. When Kym Marsh (Michelle) fell preggers they gave the Frank Foster almost rape SL to Samia Ghadie's character (forgotten name). Both characters were samey. You couldn't really have hand over a Bet Lync storyline so easily. Bet was idiosyncratic.
They can recast characters now who been on show for a while as the characters are bland and forgettable. They could never recast Bet even if JG been on show for a week. I am no fan of JG or even Corrie but Bet was an iconic role.
Actors now get little rehearsal time, film for 4 - 5 eps and despite good salaries are no longer treated like stars. Free foods been cut. They pay for parking. JG would hate not being treated like a huge star. The show has changed. There is no place for Julie or Bet.

I'm just so disappointed... as a child I remember watching bet lynch, she was bold and brassy but was as I recall inherantly good. A huge hearted, positive, fair minded and assertive character a REAL role model for young women.
To see her 'alter (huge) ego julie goodyear is this foul mouthed, unfair, pig headed, two faced old woman is very sad.

I heard she eats babies as well & pushes old ladies down stairs... :joker:
I have read just as many nasty stories about The Nolan's, are they true? How will we ever know?? I have read plenty of stories about Julie Goodyear saying what a lovely person she is, from ex cast members & crew that worked on Corrie & even on Twitter she had Corrie crew members supporting her while she was in the house...
Everyone has people they don't get on with/don't like at work, it doesn't mean they are the devil incarnate :joker:
And by the way it was down to her ill health that her last Corrie appearance was cut short, but don't let that get in the way of your 'facts' eh...

I don't read the tabloids - whatever their political slant. I formed my opinions from hearing what colleagues had to say about working with her. She may have pulled the wool over a couple of cronies to prompt them to defend her on twitter but, on the whole, she's notorious in the business for being a demanding diva.

Day 9 - Nomination: The first round of nominations took place with Dirk and Leo up for eviction, they were joined by Carole as punishment for discussing nominations.
Punishments: Carole faced the vote automatically after it was revealed that Cleo and she had discussed nominations, the housemates were instructed to choose one of the pair to face the public vote.
Day 10 - Exits: Leo Sayer voluntarily left the House. He left the House by smashing the glass tube on the garden fire door barging through the camera run and through another door. He proceeded to argue with security officers and programme producers before finally being granted his wish not to return.
Carole was evicted with 77.4% of the vote[43]
Christ all this moaning an gossiping about JG like she's f'ing Hitler or something. Apparently she added value to CS for 25 years and, whether or not you supported her on CBB, she WAS the the talking point once we got past the Situation vs. Danica tedium. Even on BOTS she comes to play and is much more engaged than the rest of them have been. The show was better cause she was on it. Full stop.

I dont really care if she is a diva or not, there are bad stories & good stories about her. She still has a lot of support from the old & present day crew of corrie. She was a close life long friend of Betty Driver until she died which should tell you she isnt all bad.
Carol Malone? Yeah she is sweetness personified isnt she..............

That's what I heard, she wasn't well enough to cope with the filming schedule, which was heavier than when she was originally in the show.
But all the diva rumours will be true, you can see she's a diva a mile off. She'd probably admit to it, she just likes playing soft old "nana" and legend in public.
Shame for her that we saw everything when she was in the house, she must have thought BB would only show her nice moments and then got all defensive when her hypocrisy was unveiled.

Have you noticed that Julie copies Betty Driver's acting technique (as Betty, the warm, motherly character in CS) in real life, i.e. when she's pretending to be kind, nurturing 'Nana'?
With Betty D it rang true, but with ham actress Julie it rings completely false.

Hi Marsh, That's the point though, we didn't see everything. How many times have we heard an evicted housemate from BBs say oh, I thought you would have see that, or ... but so and so was so funny, witty, have you not been seeing that side, and so on ..... Jay shi**ing in the freezer? was hushed up until it was blurted out and then confirmed by ex housemates of that series. See, we don't have the live feed, only highly edited clips that can sometimes misconstrue what we see on the miniscule bits we are shown, or by silly twitter tweets. So we have to go by what we do see, and I saw nothing that bad from Julie that she is villified so. They all have their good and bad points, well maybe apart from Cooleen and Harvey :joker: At the moment, I can't stand those two.

By "everything" I meant all sides of her. We saw "old Nana" sucking up to the housemates and slagging them off behind their backs.
She was hoping we'd see 'lovely Julie, legend from Corrie'. But we saw her two faced, hypocritical side too.
Other housemates are two faced at times too, but Julie is the only one to stupidly outright deny, deny, deny and make herself look stupid in doing so.
I'd say her attitude after exiting the house played the most part in my opinion of her.

a) Nobody mentioned that she's "whiter than white".
b) Carole being evicted from BB has got nothing whatsoever to do with whatever interview and comments she made about Julie.
A completely irrelevant post.

Although I don't agree with your discription of Julie, at least you're basing your dislike on what you have percieved Julie as in the CBB house. Some are not, they are going by what they have heard or read on Julie outside the CBB house, when surely with any BBs, CBB or the ordinary one, we are going by what we see no matter how little and how we percieve it from their house entertainment, aren't we? Or maybe seemingly not, and some pre judge, and not go by house entertainment?

I never said the whiter than white was used, I was simply explaining in words than if we are going to believe media hype then Carole Malone is one to talk, it ties in with that post I made on it. Carole being evicted may have little or nothing to do with it, the fact she was evicted on such a high percentage was my way of stating she wasn't that well loved by the voting public, and in that house where we had more live feed back then, she was a nasty housemate imo, so she is a one to slate Julie, she needs to look in a mirror first. So not an irrelevant post, but as this could go round and round, I see no point in keep explaining over and over the relevance of my post.

But, again, her being evicted doesn't have anything to do with anything.
She may have been up against a very popular housemate, she may have been bitchy but, most of all, it doesn't have an relevance.
We all have a negative side to us, no one's perfect. That doesn't mean we need to "look in a mirror" before commenting on the attitude/behaviour of others.
However Carole acted 5 and a half years ago in CBB has no bearing on her experience with Julie Goodyear either before that or after.

Good post. I'm from Ireland and believe me the tabloids here have printed many a nasty story about the Nolan sisters and there have been plenty of rumours about how nasty they can be. They are renowned for being gossips and back stabbers. Are all of them like that...some of them...none of them? I have no
idea. I've also read that they are nice. So who the hell knows? It's the same with Julie.
We can only go from what we have seen in the house. Julie was bitchy. Colleen was a pot stirrer. I thought Julie made for compulsive viewing and as CBB is for entertainment and she entertained me then that was great. Coleen bored the ass off me. They each have their good and bad points.
Julie didn't kill anyone, or hit anyone. She didn't make anyone cry. She didn't give anyone a breakdown. She was no better or worse than any of them - just different. She didn't behave as some people thought a 70 yr old should - but I just love elderly people who don't conform to the 'rules' and constraints that a younger society impose on them. Why the hell should they? You only live once and they haven't all the time in the world left.
I have to laugh at the nastiness of people as they describe Julie's 'nastiness'. Pot, kettle and all that. :joker:
The fact is, everyone is STILL talking about her and making threads about her. The interest in her is phenomenal!!! How many evicted HM's are still being talked about?
There is very little being said about those still IN the house. I wonder why? Now imagine this series without the wonderful Julie.... She gave people plenty to talk about, to be scandalized by, to get out all the stuff inside themselves. It was like therapy! :joker:
You should be grateful to the woman for not bringing in her knitting and smiling gently at everyone before snoozing off for most of the day - thank her for growing old disgracefully!

If she had not stirred it up it would have been a total bore without her. Coleen was a disaster.
I last saw Julie in a vehicle race in India 2004. It was absolutely hilarious and Caprice and Julie got on really well together. Julie of course used her usual method of getting everyone to do things for her and ruffled the male feathers when she arrived at the stops before them. Did she cheat, of course she did and every one knew she did. Did she win, no. Her taxi crashed and she was disqualified. Still very funny.

I think half the nation have somehow undergone mass hypnosis resulting in mass hysteria about something and nothing. What did she do in the house that was so bad? Say she loves people then tell them to piss off..so what..big deal. The rest were just as back stabby. Julie is a lovey which means she tells people she loves them the same way the rest of us, nod hello. It's really no big deal.

I myself know a fair number of people who've been very upset by things written on the Internet about them and these are not even celebs, just ordinary folks who for one reason or another have been targetted for some very pesonal abuse. Depending on your emotional state at this time, you can either gallantly ignore the comments or allow them to bring you to the bring of a deep depression and really I think we could all do with remembering people talked about do read the comments written about them...as do their families...their children...in the case of Julie...her grandchildren and all of them can be affected by what seems to be mass 'hatred'. Totally disporportionate hatred at that.
We need to lighten up folks...we're most likely all anti-bullying, please be aware that abusing people on forums is also 'bullying'.
I say this with much love and respect..and of course hope :wavey:

I don't think correcting someones idea about why she left Corrie is irrelvant rubbish. Having cancer being given a year to live is quite relevant and shows that indeed Julie has had a lot of health issues. Cervical cancer is no small thing.
The lack of tolerance and sympathy is quite disheartening. There's too much hate in the world and the advent of the Internet highlights that. There are always more haters than lovers posting it seems. Why is that...where's the love :) :bawling:

I am not a 'fan' of any of them. I just see things for what they are rather than being sucked up into a media frenzy about nothing. Julie went because like many on this 'ere' forum, they believed the hype. They allowed Coleen to succeed in what she started on day one, which was to turn everyone against Julie..perhaps because she'd had a big ruck with her sister? Nothing personal there was there..nah..... ;)
Telling people she loves them in one breath and telling them to piss off in another is not 'THAT BAD'. Some of the comments written all over this forum by 'some' about total strangers are far worse than anything Julie ever did or said, so maybe re-focus your energy.

I don't think that's fair at all. Julie was the one to completely not like Coleen from the moment they met. Which is fair enough, but to go out of her way to pretend she got on well with her, saying she "loved her" was completely two faced and dishonest.
Coleen didn't want everyone to hate Julie from day one, I have no idea what on earth gives you that idea. Once Julie had nominated her, she started to get a bit confused because whilst Julie was telling her one thing to her face she was doing the complete opposite behind her back.
Saying "I love you", then "f-ing tw@" in the next breath isn't that bad as you say.
But it's her entire attitude, denying the fact she's being two faced and hypocritical that got on my nerves. Acting as though she's perfect, treat me like a lady etc. And everyone else is the villain.
If anybody dared criticise or not agree with what Julie was saying, she would disregard them with a tirade of insults and claim they were fake, two faced.
Yet when confronted with her own actual fakeness, she would answer cryptically or have an irrelevant answer.
I can watch bitchiness and cutting remarks, that's a part of BB and everyone does it at one stage or another but Julie's whole attitude after the fact and the way she defends herself is what makes me completely dislike her.

Evidence?
Coleen didn't feel the love (so blinkin' what) so immediately started bitching and whining that Julie didn't like her.
I must have been watching a different show to everyone else. :elephant:
Meanwhile
Julie told ALL housemates she loved them....she is a lovey, that's what lovies do..She HAD to vote for two people. That makes her two-faced? The fact the show forces housemates as part of the game to nominate two people? She may or may not have wanted to vote for Coleen..but the fact is SHE had to vote for two people she had already told she loved because she told 100% of them she loved them. Just so happens Coleen got her knickers in a twist over it.
Julie told people in that show she loved them every other minute so thanks to good editing it looked timed just before a vote but fact is, she says it ALL THE TIME. It's no big deal and NO Coleen Nolan, having a lovey tell you they love you does NOT mean they really love you. Brava!! It actually means the reverse..'I hope you love me'. It's more of a question than a statement.
Julie is a person who says what she wants herself to hear. When she says 'I have got your back' she means 'I hope you've got my back'. She probably doesn't even realise it.
This is why she genuinely doesn't get the whole two-faced thing. She's oblivious to the fact people take her word at face value and really believe it so when she does say something contrary they become upset.

Er... by nominating her using the silly reason that she's got children. When quite clearly that was the easy option rather than saying what she really felt.
If Julie had been honest and said she didn't really like Coleen, or brought up anything Coleen did that she didn't like then she's have been better off than just slagging off without approaching the issue she had with her.
Like I said, not liking someone is fine, nominating someone is fine. But telling them to their face that they like them, we should stick together (it wasn't just the phrase "I love you" that lovey's come out with), we get on great etc and then ripping into her behind her back is what I had the huge problem with.
If she'd just told Coleen to her face I'd have probably remained Julie's fan.
But to then deny being the way she was outside the house when it's staring her in the face on video footage and anytime she's questioned she switches it around and avoids answering the question just makes her a pathetically hypocritical old woman.

She is a diva who takes no prisoners & doesn't care what she says or what people think THAT'S why the people that like her like her! Lemme just throw my two cents in here and base my opinion of Julie from what I saw of her in the CBB house.
I think she's an entertaining person who always makes people chuckle, but at the same time, she's a back-stabber. Plain and simple. She's definitely someone I couldn't trust and reminds me of one of the bitchy girls you bump into when at high-school.
There's no-one that can convince me otherwise. I don't like her and I probably never will, but she was good entertainment and I do believe she should have replaced Ashley/Harvey in the finals.

Coleen's husband even mentioned on Twitter that he was disgusted with them for not showing Coleen support & that they were jealous of her & even Carol McGiffin (who went on BOTS) later Tweeted that she was supporting Julie!!
Seems it's confirmed Coleen isn't the nice lady she makes out after all! :xyxwave:

Quite a few housemates used the kids excuse for nominating so I assume you hate all of them also?
Meanwhile when Julie said 'let's stick together' she was sincere. She did NOT nominate Coleen after that conversation.
Julie never once said anything of note other than off hand comments which might sound very OTT but for her it's normal expressions because she uses them often. Not nice but also not intended to cause great offence. She calls people bastards the way you and I might call them cheeky monkeys. It's just her way.
I still haven't seen one good genuine piece of evidence written here on anywhere else that supports the OTT abuse she's getting. Not one word. It's mad...but it does show the power of hype.

Love in the showbusinees world is a word usually badly used. I can like everyone around me but still have things to say as to them at times as I am sure they would about me too.
Just because you may seem to be getting at people it doesn't always mean that you still cannot like them.
Look at Oscars and awards speeches where winners go an about loving nearly the whole world and the losers smile and say, they really love the winners and are over the moon for them.
Of course they are,I don't think.
As to Corrie, Julie was known for being demanding and looking for special privileges, especially in later years, however there are few moans at her from the cast, many of who loved working with her in her 25 years on and off as to Corrie.
I would dare bet many actors and actresses in soaps are demanding after many years in their roles.
Julie Goodyear was one of the really big leading people on Corrie, her fire at the Rovers episode was watched at the time by 22 million viewers, she won many awards and so I take all these reports with a pinch of salt.
I keep coming back to this point but for certain,in most cases, if she was as bad as has been stated, plus the cast and producers really were sick of her then they always have the perfect vehicle to use to end all that.
Kill her character in Corrie off. How odd that that has never been rumoured to be going to happen and obviously hasn't happened.
Bet Lynch could at any time return to Corrie still, she may likely not now because as was said, she finds the recording schedules and deadlines too demanding now, as do some of the other older cast as well as the younger ones too.
Martin in the CBB house was going on about really liking this one and that one and loving everyone in the house but even he still said things to others about them behind their backs.

@joeysteele. Indeed, back in the day we only had three tv channels. Corrie was the biggest show on tv and she was the biggest actor on that show and thus she was at that time the single biggest actor on tv. Now that is something. Who today equates to that? She was to tv then what David beck ham now is to football. Don't tell me people would say ' who are ya, who are ya? To David Beckham lol or not allow him certain privileges or respect. All stars get divaish when they reach that level of fame because they are surrounded by suck-ups. She's not a bad egg, not at all. Never seen a kiss and tell or bitchy public rant from her in all these years and that's not including what she thought were private rants in the house. We ALL do that!

You should be grateful to the woman for not bringing in her knitting and smiling gently at everyone before snoozing off for most of the day - thank her for growing old disgracefully!

In a sense you are saying actors are incapaple of forming real and genuine frienships, or exhibiting their real feeling and emotions in any given situation.
Actors and those in the media are not infallible they have personality flaws the same as the rest of us....
No matter what job you do for 25yrs you have no right to treat collegues like dirt, and bad behaviour should not be excused.
That aside some felt her behaviour in the house was inexcusable, and some didn't we all have differing ideas of what is acceptable. One thing I have never agreed with is that boundries are interchangable depending on who oversteps them.

I just wish one of 'those' would itemise the bad behaviour that was inexcusable. :)
Just one line will do...
Something of course that none of the other housemates are also guilty of...
(Chewing gum, smoking lots of fags, needing special attention because she's disabled, swearing as a way of speaking, telling housemates you love them, having to nominate as part of the game and being 'nice about it', private conversations with her hairdresser.... don't count.....on account of they are utterly pathetic reasons for spitting the amount of venom we're seeing here).

I think you completely missed my point. Thankfully others got it though.
Nowhere did I say actors and actresses are incapable of forming true and good friendships with others, what I said was the word 'love' is very loosely used in the main in the showbusiness world between actors and actresses in certain situations.
I also never said it was right to treat colleagues badly, where on earth did I say that?
I said Julie had got demanding as to producers for certain privileges,(as many actors/actresses do, Joan Collins on Dynasty for example),nowhere is there any real dislike or intent to dislike Julie from her colleagues as to Corrie or evidence that she treated any of them badly either,(or vice versa even).
Some didn't find her behaviour in the house pleasing, many others did, just as in fact as to all housemates some found their behaviour not pleasing while others did,it doesn't just apply to Julie.
Neither does any of that behaviour make her this demon of a figure that some paint her as on here or in fact make her a bad person even.

Julie was an entertaining Hm but an awful woman with a ruthless, malicious streak. The way she kissed Coleen and grabbed her boobs was aggressive and contemptuous, really vile. The fact she saw nothing wrong with that behavior spoke volumes about her as a person.
She is a nasty old crone and no excuses will make her anything else.
You would think at 70 she would have learned some self awareness and empathy. She can be funny but she is so full of self entitlement and spite, she is thoroughly unlikable.
The way BOts condoned her behavior was disgusting also.
