We're down to four, who do you think will win?

I love Will  but I think Gareth will win because his voice is more suited to pop.

I also think Gareth will win, though I'm afraid he's fourth on my list.

1 = Darius
2 = Will
3 = Zoe
4 = Gareth

However, as much as I prefer Darius and Will I think that Gareth and Zoe are far more suitable to the role of 'Pop Idol' and therefore I would be quite happy for either of them to win.

Both Will and Darius would be suited far more to a musical career that was not rectricted to the type of music and deal that the winner of this competition will be, and I think they will be better off not winning. Does that make sense?

Hopefully all of them will be offered music deals. I'm sure we have not seen the last of any of them.

Or wouldn't it be great if the 3 out of 4 people make a group together!!

That would be nice as one or two of them wouldn't be left out!

This is difficult, as who I think will win is not necessarily who I want to win!

I think Gareth will win, with Will second, Zoe third and Darius fourth.

However, I would like Will to win, with Darius second, Gareth third and Zoe fourth.

I agree that Gareth's voice is better suited to 'pop' music, so that's probably why he'll win. However I think Will is the one with the special talent, who will ultimately have the most successful and varied career.

All four should, without question, be offered recording contracts, and I hope that they all go on to enjoy great success - they deserve it. :dazzler:

Good point Kaz!

My "who I want to win" list is:

1. Will 2. Zoe 3. Darius 4. Gareth

but I think the final result will be

1. Gareth 2. Will 3. Zoe 4. Darius

Tho' I have to say at this stage I would quite happily listen to any of them sing. And I hope they bring out a CD / video of the best bits from the finals.

e.g. Hayley singing "Show me heaven " and "That Ol devlie called love"
Zoe singing "Get Happy"
Gareth singing the Abba song he did
Will singing just about anything except the Big Band song!

I so agree with you, especially Hayley's two songs, she blew me away with both!

That is a brilliant idea, kaphc. :hello: :elephant: :hello:

It might just be a possibility, given that they brought out a video showing the best bits from all the auditions. I would certainly buy a CD of the best songs from the finals.

Maybe we, as a forum could write into Pop Idol and beg for Kate to read out the suggestion and see what the contestansts say......

Just an idea!

I want Will to win:elephant:. However i'm slightly disillusioned about Pop Idol and other shows like this. Last year all we and the press were talking about was Hear'say, how they could all sing, what each one would bring to the band etc, etc. This year even before Kym left it was Crap Hear'say this, can't sing, she's a bitch, he's gay(like there's something wrong with that!). It really annoys me, and while The Scum are building Gareth up now you can bet your life they'll come after him in a couple of months time. Just like they do with BB housemates:mad::mad:

I'm up for e-mailing Pop Idol - I'll find the e-mail address and let you know what I say.

I'm having pop Idol Party on Saturday where we watch ITV1 and ITV2 for hours and hours - how sad is that??:spin2:

chilledbootz - sadly, I have to agree with you. The British press's attitude to people in the news is abysmal. When they are flavour of the month, they are behind them and back them to the hilt (as the Sun did with Helen) 'cause they know it will sell papers. However, once they become less newsworthy they drop them like a stone (unlike us true fans!) and then take great pleasure in picking fault with them.

Just now they are backing Gareth to win Pop Idol but I've no doubt that, even if he does win, a few months down the line they'll be trying to dig up any dirt they can on him. It's sad, but unfortunately true that the tabloids only build someone up so that they can knock them back down again. :bawling:

kaphc - it would be fantastic if you did e-mail Pop Idol. I'll be listening out on Saturday to see if your idea is read out on air. Fingers crossed! :colour: :dazzler: :colour:

Why Darius? Not that I'm complaining, it's nice to see someone who's rooting for someone different!
Welcome to the board by the way :cat:

Hi Janette

If you look back at my earlier post you'll see that Darius was top of my list too. :flower:

I've always liked him, even back in those rather embarrasing 'Popstars' days. :spin2:

I'm not sure exactly why, there's just something about him that appeals. Will is probably a fairly close second and Gareth isn't even in the running.

I like Darius, he's cute and he's got a great voice, but where would you put that voice? He's definitely not pop material, maybe stage work would be better for him.

The same could be said for Will, can anyone really see Will singing a pop song?

In a way I hope Gareth does win because he isn't really good enough to be anything more than a pop singer!

And I've heard that Hear'say want Zoe! I don't know whether that's a good move for her or not, I don't think they're going to be around much longer.

Agree with you 100%. I prefer Darius and Will but think they will do better outside the confines of the show.

On 'Pop Idol Extra' earlier this evening on ITV2 Kate Thornton was interviewing Simon Cowell and he said that he thought Darius had an excellent chance of winning it. He said that his share of the votes was getting more and more and that he was going to give both Gareth and Will a run for their money. :spin2:

Go Darius Go :dazzler:

My favourite is Gareth because he just has everything a pop idol requires, and I'm sure he will win.
I think Will is an exceptional talent and will, I have no doubt be a huge star, although at first in pop, I think he will be more successful in a wider field.
Zoe again is very talented and will definitely be a popstar, she has the makings of a 'Diva' in the same vain as Aretha, all I can say is watch this space!
Darius is unique and different and has improved over the weeks, he will do well, but I'm not sure if he'll sustain a career in pop, but it takes all sorts so you can never tell!
All the remaining four have done incredibly well, even some successful popstars have been quoted as saying they would not have done even half as well if they had had to go through what the pop idol contestants have been put through, so hats off to them, and I hope they all do fantastically well, they more than deserve it.

If it makes all the Zoe lovers any happier, if the programme was having a female pop idol, she won! She was the last girl and she deserves a record contract.

I think all the four who sang tonight have proved themselves remarkably talented over the last few months. Last week Zoe sang brilliantly and was, in my opinion, the best. This week however I agreed with the judges that neither her or Will sang to their full potential.

Zoe does have a great voice, especially for a 16 year old, but tonight she was trying too hard and she was forcing her voice and over-singing. It's really easy to fall into this trap - I've been told on several occasions that I do it myself.

It's sad to see anyone go, but I think if it was judged soley on tonights performance it was right that it was Zoe.

I thought the best tonight was Darius - by quite a long way, follwed by Gareth then Will then Zoe.

Before tonight I thought the final two would be Will and Gareth, now I'm not so sure I think it might be Darius and Gareth.

As I have said before I'm sure we're going to see a lot more of all of these people, whoever eventually wins.

What do you all think?

Darius has always been the also ran for me, but the way he's been performing the last couple of weeks, he may well be the dark horse of the competition!

Saying that though, I still stick by my previous statement that Gareth will win because he is probably the only pop singer left!

My views on last night's programme:

Gareth - Sang both his songs well, but I thought his voice wasn't strong enough against the backing of a live orchestra.

Darius - His best week yet. The Tom Jones song was fantastic, not so keen on his version of the Atomic Kitten song, but again he sang it very well.

Zoe - Oh dear. After being fabulous last week, she rather lost the place. Went off key a few times and tended to shout rather than sing at times. Definitely the weakest for me.

Will - Didn't like the Eurythmics song much, but his version of Night Fever was tremendous. Seemed to have lost a lot of his sparkle.

All in all, I felt the right person went. As Janette said, Zoe has won the public's vote as female Pop Idol, and I'm sure we'll hear a lot more from her.

Last night really brought home to me the enormous pressure these young people are under, when Kate Thornton (another terrible post-show interview on ITV2, incidentally) said Will had revealed to her he'd had enough. It must be unbearable for them sitting waiting to hear who's going and, unlike Big Brother, everyone is up for eviction every week. it really made me appreciate Paul's strength of character having been nominated so many weeks in a row. Brian, Dean and Elizabeth really had it easy, didn't they?

I hope Will gets his zest for singing back, because he is the one for me who really has something special.

Next week will really be nailbiting stuff. I just hope the judges pick songs that bring out the best in the final three.

That's what I thought. She did a bit of a Rosie on us and she's better than that. IMHO she was the best last week, with Darius being the weakest, but this week the roles were reversed. As soon as I realised she was singing The Power of Love I had one of those impending senses of doom things. I wish her all the best and I'm confident she'll be offered a great recording deal soon. I hope she has enough confidence within herself to take her time when deciding her options and isn't steam rollered into any old rubbish. In particular I hope she (and the others) are given the time to find the material to suit them instead of rushing to get something in the shops.

It was good to see them performing 2 different songs, but it's a shame they couldn't have allowed them a little longer on each. The last couple of weeks they've had the chance to really get into their song, so I felt quite dissatisfied by what any of them achieved this week. Whoever was responsible for arranging There Must Be an Angel for Will should be shot. It was terrible. I love that song and Annie Lennox, so I was always going to be hard to please, but I was left confused by what he was actually trying to acheive. Which ever judge said the backing vocal were too powerful for Gareth during Wake Me Up was right, but surely that would have been obvious during the week. There were about 10 of them - was that strictly necessary? George Michael made do with just Pepsi and Shirley!

As for Mr Darius? Well, I'd been going off him over the past few weeks, but last night he surprised me - in a good way. I still think he'll be going home next week, but who knows?

I was also really sad to see Will looking so deflated after last night's show. I suppose that they have been doing the Saturday night shows week in, week out since before Christmas, so they must be fairly knackered now.

Darius is growing on me too, but he always seems a bit too image-conscious for my liking. I don't mean in how he dresses, but in what he says and how he potrays himself. He has obviously put a lot of thought into the whole "Pop Idol" experience and seems to be the most overtly trying to win votes.

To be honest, I wish next week was the last show and that they would announce the final three based on the number of votes they get. Having said that, as I'm away next weekend, I'm glad it isn't!

I am totally impressed with Gareth especially this week, because he made BOTH songs his own, no matter what the judges said! Pete Waterman said Gareth struggled with Whams 'Wake Me Up' but under the circumstances ie. having only three days to learn and perform it LIVE! I think he sang it brilliantly. I'm so pleased they picked up on how professionally he picked up the second song because what the band did was pretty shabby! Musicians should follow the performer and if as Nicky pointed out Gareth SUNG the segue (pronounced segway) in rehearsals, they would have been perfectly aware of this and should have listened to him, waited and then started the intro'. Of course it was almost certain that it was either the conductor or the director who brought them in too soon, who knows but it was awful for poor Gareth.
Simons comments about Gareth achieving a number one song with his version of 'Unchained Melody' were spot on, it was absolutely stunning!
Will is another huge talent and also unique as a singer, he always makes each song his own and in my opinion did exactly that this week. 'Must be talking to an Angel' was amazing I loved it, and 'Night Fever' was superb! I don't think he's slipped up at all and couldn't understand why the judges felt he wasn't as good as he can be.
I'm afraid I didn't like Darius's interpretation of either song. I've really tried to like him and still think he has definitely got better as the weeks have gone on, but it's purely my own taste and not any reflection on him or his obvious talent at all, he just doesn't do it for me personally!
Zoe will be a huge star one day she has definitely got 'it', but she did try and push too hard last night and I felt really sorry for her. Every other song she has sung in the series has been fantastic, I think the judges were very harsh, but what they said in essence was right for last nights performance.
I'm still convinced Gareth will win, he's got the overall appeal, he's very good looking, has a very appealing dimpled smile, has obvious vulnerabilities, a dreamy voice (even if it isn't that powerful) and an excellent interpretation of every song he sings. He's definitely my choice, so we'll just have to wait and see. I wish all of them, all the luck in the world and really hope they all achieve their dreams, they more than deserve to.
