View Full Version : French magazine publishes topless photos of Kate Middleton
A French magazine has published topless photos of the Duchess of Cambridge.
Closer says the pictures were taken when the duke and duchess were on holiday last week at the French chateau of the Queen's nephew, Lord Linley.
The photos are blurry and taken with a long lens but are clearly of the royal couple, who are now touring Asia, the BBC's Paris bureau says.
There are four pages of pictures of William and Kate, with the duchess topless in several of them.
They were told about the magazine's plan to publish the photos during breakfast in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
It has emerged that British newspapers were offered photographs last week but turned them down.
Officials said the couple were "saddened and disappointed" about what they considered to be a breach of their privacy.
The royal couple continued with their nine-day tour, which is part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations, on Friday by visiting a mosque in Kuala Lumpur.
On Thursday, the duchess gave her first official speech abroad while visiting a hospice in the capital.
"Providing children and their families with a place of support, care and enhancement at a time of great need is simply life changing," she said.
She said the couple were "hugely excited" to be in Malaysia, after they had started their tour in Singapore.
The emergence of the magazine photos follows the controversy over the publication of pictures of a naked Prince Harry, Kate's brother-in-law, which were taken in a Las Vegas hotel room last month.
The images first emerged on entertainment gossip website TMZ in the US before going global.
However, the Sun was the only British newspaper to defy the wishes of St James's Palace and print them after the palace had warned that the photos breached Harry's privacy.
The tabloid printed two photographs, believed to have been taken on a camera phone, of the prince with a naked woman. It argued that its action was in the public interest.
The Press Complaints Commission said it received hundreds of complaints from members of the public but did not act because it had not been contacted by representatives of the prince.

The English and the French have only had a problem with each other for about a thousand years. At least they've only taken pictures of William and Kate; they haven't done to them what they did to their own royal family. They have no royals now, our royals have holiday places there.... ever since Agincourt, actually.

Yeah the place they were is pretty much as secluded as you can get, they have to be constantly worried about how they look or what they say every time they appear in public, they shouldn't have to do the same in private

A royal official said the couple could not have chosen a more secluded spot* in France for their private holiday.
Closer's editor said the couple were "visible from the street".
"These photos are not in the least shocking. They show a young woman sunbathing topless, like the millions of women you see on beaches," said Laurence Pieau.
She described the reaction as "a little disproportionate".
Closer is not run by the same company as the British title; it is administered by Italian business Mondadori, owned by former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi's holding company Fininvest.

The difference between Prince Harry and Kate is that Harry allowed people into his apartment and therefore somewhat gave them permission to take photos of him. Kate on the other hand is enjoying herself on a holiday and she should be allowed to take her clothes off without the fear of being taking pictures of. What has happened to Kate today is unacceptable. Especially as the same day Kate was photographed dressed modestly in her visit to Malaysia.

Lets hope the courtesans at the palace rip her off several strips for this unacceptable breach of Royal Protocol.
She is expected, one day to be queen before we talk about another certain Royal, and so the rules of decorum are different and more strict, like they have to be.
This shows what I said before elsewhere, His Royal Highness the Duke of Cambridge should never have been allowed to marry her as she was a commoner. Experience in recent years has shown what an utter, utter disaster it has been to allow commoners into the royal family.
His Royal Highness should have been ordered to end it with Miss Middleton as she was then, and marry a princess from one of the European Royal families.

But Sticks
Love is above class.
Not when it come to Royal Protocols, love should never be allowed to come into the matter.
Brides should be chosen for our royals from other royal families in order to strengthen alliances and preserve a pure royal bloodline. In days of yore, our royals were instructed on who they could and could not marry and our system worked. Ever since they allowed commoners in, it has been a total disaster, starting with Princess Anne's disastrous marriage to Captain Mark Phillips.
With privilege comes responsibilities and restrictions. They were there for a reason and the royal courtesans have been neglecting their duties by first allowing Miss Middleton to get near the prince, allowing this marriage and not instructing her in how a royal should behave.
If a man goes up to a wall of a zoo and jumps over it into the lions cage and is mauled, do we blame the lions? No, we blame the man for his reckless ans wanton behaviour.
The paparazzi can be likened to wild animals, if that is not too much of an insult to wild animals, in that they will take any opportunity they can. It is the duty of the courtesans and the royals to ensure that does not happen.
The Duchess of Cambridge was reckless by removing her top outside in the open air and the Duke of Cambridge should have known better.

With all of the MANY privileges that come with being a member of a hereditary undemocratic Monarchy, there are also some consequences. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.
cry me a river.
This woman (Kate) is perfectly willing to accept all of the undeserved FAME and WEALTH that come along with marrying into the monarchy, but she's not willing to accept any of downsides or consequences? sorry, but i have no sympathy. You take the good with the bad. She made her decision.
With Harry and his invasion of privacy you could at least argue that he didn't CHOOSE to be a monarch he was born into it, and at least he is actually fighting and putting his life in danger to serve his country and the allies of his country, so he deserves to have a bit of a break in Las Vegas and let go for a while. but Kate cannot make that excuse, she did choose it.

The Italian gossip magazine Chi has said it plans to publish photographs of the Duchess of Cambridge sunbathing topless in a special issue next week.
Closer and Chi are both part of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's Mondadori media group.
Chi said, that despite the legal row, it was planning a 26-page photo special of Catherine and William this week.
Editor Alfonso Signorini said: "The fact that these are the future rulers of England makes the article more interesting and topical.
"This is a deserving topic because it shows in a completely natural way the daily life of a very famous, young and modern couple in love," he said.

Exactly
The Duchess of Cambridge should never have given them something to photograph.
It is her that should be severely reprimanded for her breach of protocol. She should never have been allowed to to get close to his Royal Highness. She should have been told right in no uncertain terms at the beginning to keep away from His Royal Highness.
As for Arista's point, love should never be allowed to supplant duty. Love should be sent packing if it ever comes close to conflicting with duty.
Remember how Her Royal Highness Princess Margaret dispensed with a man she loved because he was a commoner. She rightly chose duty over love.
His Royal Highness should have been made to ditch Miss Middleton and made to marry a royal from one of the European royal households as was his duty.
As fortunately there is yet no issue, maybe the courtesans at the palace may be able to rectify this terrible mistake, in light of this evidence of her unsuitability to be a royal. A quickie divorce with a statement of how things are not working out, followed by a low key royal wedding of his royal highness to a proper royal princess would be more in order.

If we are to have a royal family, then it must be done according to the well established rules which have stood the test of time through the centuries.
The very first commoner to marry a British monarch was Elizabeth Woodville, the widow of Sir John Grey of Groby, who married King Edward IV in 1464. Woodville was also the first Englishwoman to be crowned Queen, which happened on Ascension Day at Westminster Abbey on May 26, 1465.
She already had two sons from her marriage, but bore the King ten more children. This was the start of the House of York.

21 Nov 2002
Princess Anne is being prosecuted under the Dangerous Dogs Act after her pet bull terrier savagely attacked a couple in Windsor Great Park.
The Princess Royal and her husband, Commodore Tim Laurence, have both been summonsed to appear before East Berkshire magistrates in ten days' time where they each face a fine of up to £5,000 and up to six months' imprisonment.
Magistrates can also order the destruction of the animal and have the power under the 1991 Dangerous Dogs Act to disqualify the Princess and her husband from keeping a dog.
It is the first time such a senior member of the Royal Family has been summonsed to appear before a criminal court for an offence other than exceeding the speed limit.
Princess Anne is also no stranger to court summonses - she has four speeding convictions. In November 1972 she was given a written warning after being clocked at up to 90mph on the M1. Police did not prosecute.
In January 1977, the Princess, then 26, was fined £40 in Alfreton, Derbyshire, for doing 96mph on the M1. And in October 1990 she was fined £150 and banned for one month by magistrates in Stowonthe-Wold, near Gatcombe Park, after admitting two separate speeding offences.
Her latest brush with the speed camera came in August 2000, when she was clocked doing 93mph in her Bentley on the A417 Brockworth by-pass near Gatcombe.
As a result she was fined £400, ordered to pay £30 costs and her licence was endorsed with five penalty points by Cheltenham magistrates

The Princess was fined £500 by Berkshire Magistrates' Court and ordered to give Dotty more training.

Prince Charles was divorced and is now married to a divorcee and is still heir to the throne... Prince Michael of Kent is married to a catholic... Prince William married a commoner. Welcome to the 21st Century.

but that picture is tryna make it look like she is covering her eyes because she doesn't want to see the breasts, and i seriously doubt that's what she's doing. she's clearly putting her hands up to pull her hair up and over the necklace that was just placed around her..
I can't believe people don't see that immediately. We saw hundreds of women doing the same thing at the olympics, when they put the medal around their necks, they pull their hair back and over the medal that was put around their necks.

PRINCE William has promised that he and Kate will not be an extra burden on taxpayers.
They will take only travel costs and office maintenance from the Crown Estate, which will be used to fund the Royal Family’s official duties from 2013.
William and Kate plan to run their official life under the umbrella of Prince Charles’s household, with a handful of dedicated staff in London, paid for by Charles’s Duchy of Cornwall estate.
William’s income is thought to add up to around £1.6million a year, with his £37,170 salary as an RAF search and rescue helicopter pilot, a hefty allowance from his father and around £300,000 investment income from the £6.5million his mother Princess Diana left him.

Yeah like Arista said it is a current news story and even if you consider it trivial you will see it alongside the more "serious" headlines on every major news website/channel/paper in the country pretty much. Besides, a story doesn't have to be about wars or murder for it to be a serious matter, this has also opened up debates about privacy laws, press freedom, royal security etc etc. How trivial a news item is in your view if subjective, and if you personally have no real interest then I don't see why it's necessary to go off on one in order to express that

"A Danish magazine today announced its intention to publish the topless photos of the Duchess of Cambridge, as police raided the headquarters of the original source, Closer.
Kim Henningsen, editor-in-chief of Denmark's Se & Hoer, said the pictures will appear in a 16-page supplement sold with Thursday's edition.
He said he had been offered 240 pictures but had decided to use 60 to 70 of them, adding he wanted to show Denmark's entertainment fans 'what these photos are all about."
