I'd say it more went up and down really. They had some good stuff in the early 2000's. Especially on Heathen Chemistry
I keep going through these cyclic phases where I get pretentious and dismiss them as unintelligent, overrated cock rock and do my whole pretend to be Thom Yorke thing but then usually come back to thinking of them as having some nice tunes.
Drinking Harp to them nice tunes, like. I mean they're not that good.
20 years ago to this very day 7th January 1994, they began recording this album

Best album of all time in my opinion, just ahead of The Stone Roses.
Love everything about Oasis from Noel's composure and wittiness to Liam's swagger and confidence.
They were untouchable in the 90's, and although a lot of people think they went downhill in the latter years, I love every album they released. DOYS being their last album and I think it's brilliant, some really strong tunes on it.
Definitely Maybe though is the best debut any band will ever do I reckon. Liam's voice has took a battering over the years but on this it's young and fresh. Columbia is my all-time favourite Oasis song, the energy and attitude on it gives me shivers, Bring It On Down also has a similar feeling to it. And what better way to open any album than with Rock n Roll Star, defined Oasis for who they are. Loads of classics on it... Cigs and Alcohol, Live Forever, Supersonic etc.
Also contains their most under-rated song ever, Slide Away. People don't give this the praise it deserves, how it wasn't a single is beyond me. Even the B-sides to the singles on this album are excellent, although they always had very strong B-sides. All about opinions, but I don't think WTSMG can be compared to it.
This is Noel performing a song that was on the vinyl edition of the album:
