Just wondered what people's views are on people (particularly youths) wearing hoodies in public. Personally I'm not too bothered and a own a couple myself, although I don't put the hood up.
A girl in my year said she was not allowed to go into the changing rooms at Debenhams in Plymouth because she was wearing a hoodie, and she didn't even have the hood up. Apparently she had a full blown argument with this shop assistant and walked out. :conf: I thought that that was quite pathetic in my opinion...

I don't mind hoodies, used to wear them all the time but not as much these days. The big shopping outlet down here (Bluewater) has banned youngsters from wearing hoodies and caps, half of them don't listen though.

Why ban kids from places if they wear a "hoodie"

As in anything, the minority ruin it for the majority.

The likely reason hoodies are banned, is because they are associated with chavs, and you can hide your face in them.

Can't blame shops for being cautious though. It's their livelihoods.

Anyway hoodies were around in the 80's, fashion is going backwards

The fact they can hide peoples indenities is why the hoods should be down in shops. Fair ask in my opinion. Hoodies can look intimidating especially when a crowd of people wearing them.

Don't mind them. They definitely can look intimidating but often you'll find the people themselves aren't! lol. I don't mind them personally.

I wear hoodies.
I have loaaads.

But I never have the hood up, because its associated with shoplifters etc
I have really comfy ones that keep me warm.

Some of my 'hoodies' dont even have hoods.
Lol

Having the hoods up is associated with shoplifters
,hence the shop banning the girl from the
changing rooms even though she did not have her hood up when she came in and may have had no intention of
shoplifting what so ever, the shop was only doing their job in banning her as a precation just incase she DID try to
shoplift the item that she has want to try on in the
changing room by lifting up the hood to hide it.

The girl was wrong for that arguement.

I wear a hood, I wear it with respect, but I'm now 25 and have a mature mind. Most young examples of this craze are happy slapping hoodies, happy slapping hoodies with ASBO's.
