Are you ruled by your heart or your head?

I have a vague recollection of doing a thread like this way back in the mists of time, but we have lots of newbies now anyway, so here goes.

Are you a cool, logical person, ruled by your head?

Does your heart over-rule you most of the time?

Or are you a mix of the two, I can be but it's mostly heart over head for me, I'm too impulsive, and frequently put my gob in gear before my brain :hugesmile:

I think there should be a third option. Some people are just ruled on pure animal instinct lizard brain selfishness. Pure base line survival mode.

Head = intellectualism. thinking about things in the big picture, and in historical context. Trying to understand the full scale of a decision before you act. understanding how your decision effects the world, not just yourself.

Heart = emotionalism. doing what feels morally right, with out necessarily thinking out the logical consequences, or seeing the big picture. idealist. being compassionate for the sake of being compassionate. doing things because you think it's right, even if it doesn't benefit you in any way.

Lizard Brain = survivalism. Not worrying about what makes sense logically, or what you think is morally right. Just doing something because you want it, no regard for others, purely selfish. the only thing that matters is what can you get out of it.


I think we're all a combination of all 3. I'd say that i'm 60% intellectualism 35% emotionalism 5% survivalism.

Well, I'd definitely say according to that, that I'm ruled more by my heart.

Both.The head is involved in every decision. The heart comes into moral decisions more, but ultimately the heart must always be involved in deciding what is the right thing to do.

As for romance, all that buying flowers, chocolates, sending cards etc Im not into that. I find it all too gimmicky. Give me a friend whos on the end of the line in an emergency, over a friend who sends soppy cards and only sees you at social events. I tend to get more emotional and romantic about music, patriotism, the landscape, animals than being overly romantic in relationships.

My head I reckon. I sometimes feel bad/guilty when I do things but I don't let that stop me from doing something if it needs doing.

It would be mixed for me, in personal matters it is certainly my heart that rules,although once really hurt or unfairly got at,I will burn those bridges.

In my studies,finances and eventually in my chosen career,although I will have principles to follow it will be my head that in the main rules there.
