Plans are underway to turn classic Coen Brothers movie Fargo into a TV series.

Joel and Ethan Coen wrote, directed and produced the 1996 crime film, which starred Frances McDormand as a pregnant sheriff in a sleepy North Dakota town and William H Macy as a car salesman who hatches an ill-fated plan to have his wife kidnapped.

The movie was a major critical success for the filmmaking duo, who won the Best Director prize when they took it to the Cannes Film Festival and an Oscar for their screenplay. McDormand won the film's second Oscar for her performance as the sheriff.

Now US cable network FX - home of Dexter and American Horror Story - has ordered a script for an hour-long TV pilot based on the film. The Coen Brothers will serve as executive producers, with the script being penned by Noah Hawley, a former writer-producer on Bones.

Anyone else watch the first episode ?
I really enjoyed it!!! They definitely got the feel of the film down very well.
It said at the start (on-screen text) that it was a true story but just how 'true' that is i'm not sure.
BBT was great, as usual. Freeman was kinda' annoying, as usual....
The guy who played Saul in Breaking Bad has a pretty minor role in it too!

I'm interested to see where the plot goes during the next few episodes. Highly recommended on the whole though! Woot, woot!!!!

The "there be Dragons" speech was amazing!!!

Can't wait for Episode 2 to air on Tuesday!
The second episode is called 'The Rooster Prince' and the brief synopsis is;
"Molly suspects that Lester is involved with the murders; Malvo investigates a blackmail plot."

..yeah I will try to catch it again..(and stay awake..)..I think last night's was a repeat but hopefully it'll be on again this week..do you know if it's only one series or several..?..

..oh I forgot about the Hobbit..I guess he was already a big deal there but USA series are such a high standard now and must be fantastic for careers..I remember 'back in the day' when not many 'serious' actors would have wanted to be in a series...

Yeah absolutely, I was always a film fanatic but I think I'm more of a TV fan these days, it's gotten so good

Thought fargo was pretty good. reminds me a little of breaking bad in the sense good guy going bad. could this be another classic series

The movie is great and this show is even better. I love Billy Bob. He's so good at playing quirky characters.

Watched the second episode last night!
It wasn't quite as eventful as the first but it was still very good. Billy Bob's character has got so much going on. He's one very busy psychopath!!!!:hugesmile:

The chunky police woman is kind of annoying though! She just won't let sh*t go (i guess that's her job though eh, and she isn't wrong about Lester...in a way).

I feel like this started off really well, and that it's going to have a good ending. I'm just not sure what to make of the episodes in between? A lot of useless and confusing characters and sub-plots?

I agree with you though, Iceman, episode 9 was a good one. I felt like I was watching a horror film. :laugh:

i really hope lester gets killed soon. that was so evil that last epiosde. i was rooting for him but not anymore. that was just nasty and evil. odd program none are nice people
also the fast forward was confusing. i went out the room came back didnt know what was going on so had to rewatch the one before.

The final episode was last night (UK pace).

I think this series has been fantastic. It has managed to surpass the brilliance of the first, which was very difficult to do.

I think the plot this season was a little easier to follow, but also more exciting to watch. There are so many great actors and characters to mention, but I loved Kirsten Dunst's character in particular :love: Her husband, Simone and Dodd make up my favourites. But the ensemble of actors and character types were pretty much spot on.

Bring on the third season.
