I think if he is found guilty of the charges then yes he should but I do find it very strange that all this has come to light after his death when he can't speak out for himself or on the other hand do pennance if he is guilty.

Yes
The guy is dead, if it'll make his victims feel better then go for it, either way he'll still be dead and it won't take away the pain of those who suffered.

I kind of agree with this,he may be dead but IF he HAS done these things, his name deseves to be sullied and he should not retain his knighthood.
If the allegations are founded, then yes .... and all of the other honours, too :
OBE
Commando Green Beret
Knight Bachelor
Knight Commander of Saint Gregory the Great
LLD
FRCR
Knight of Malta
Freeman of the Borough of Scarborough

Somehow don't think that one in particular is going to make a whole lot of difference to him now.
I tend to quickly scan a lot of thread titles, and sometimes as like this thread, at first I thought it read, 'Should JL]S be stripped of ?' :joker:

Tough one to call but
an allegation was made that JS spent most of his life helping people, running countless Marathons, raising millions of pounds for childrens charities. Campaigning for a wide variety of charitable causes. This is why JS was honoured, for this work. The allegation is true JS did all of this no question no doubt.
an allegation has been made that he was a sexual deviant and that he molested/raped a number of girls..over 40 years ago, as JS isn't alive he cannot be prosecuted as he cannot defend himself against these claims. As there is no evidence other than the verbal testimonies of these women they will only ever be claims unprovable in law.
So what we can prove and is not in doubt is the JS most people have seen over the years is JS the charity campaigner and for that he received numerous honors and these honours were well deserved and should not be stripped from him posthumously.
Were more solid evidence to come to light then it would be a different story...!!!

Unless some proper evidence comes to light there is nothing to answer and nothing to be discussed. People are easy targets once they're dead.
If he's found guilty... what difference is it going to make? He died with all of those honours, it's not going to ruin his memories of them because he's dead. If it makes the victims feel better, okay, but these measures aren't going to affect Jimmy!

No, he's dead. There can't be a trial and so as far as I'm concerned this whole case is disgusting and needs to be put to bed.
Attempting to tarnish the reputation of a dead man is pathetic.

no he shouldnt be stripped ofanything at all. unless it actually goes to court and the late jimmy saville is found guilty as charged. otherwise this is dangerous tittle tattle trial by media and gutter press at its worse. the alleged victims who went to the hacks are a disgrace imho by going straight to tabloid headlines instead of going through the proper channels to justice

How can he possibly be found guilty of these crimes if he did in fact even commit them.
How can you find someone guilty when you cannot even talk to them and they have no way at all in law of defending themselves.
So for me, no he should not be stripped of his Knighthood, if he did these things then obviously that is really awful, everyone though has the right in law to answer any allegations as to them, however a dead person cannot.
I am sorry, I don't hold with all this he coudn't be taken on. In the 60s he was only a disc jockey really, it was a different period I agree but many major careers fell because of scandal during that decade and the 70s too.
The man is dead, no one can talk to him directly, he cannot confirm or deny these allegations and he also cannot defend himself and fight these allegations either.
So in light of that I cannot see any justification of removing his Knighthood.
You cannot try a dead man and you certainly cannot find him guilty on just prosecution evidence with no defence possible to come from his instructions either.

http://img.thesun.co.uk/multimedia/archive/00740/SNN2501Asutcliffe_740914a.jpgYou do realise the only reason this photo exists is because he was disgusted at being set up to meet the murderer while doing hospital radio and wanted it released but dont let that stand in the way of imagining it to be a dark past
You only have to look at how much he is enjoying the situation dont you.

I've heard of that guy before.
Anyway they should let Jimmy keep his knighthood, but give one to Gary Glitter too, just so it's fair.

Without proof of guilt and a guilty verdict in a court of law Jimmy saville is still innocent and as such his family have every right to expect his honours will not be rescinded.
Last time I looked the British Legal system wasn't run by TV and Newspaper companies, trial by Tabloid /TV or any other Media format is still his word against their word.
His name and reputation well thats another story, they are effectively ruined, innocent or guilty, once the allegations start appearing coupled with the rest of the media circus it doesn't matter which. Mud sticks and Jimmy Saville will now join an elite group of Celeb Sex Molesters ie Jonathan King,Gary Glitter etc.....
