"An apparent silence from Apple
had left many wondering if the company
still planned to debut a smaller iPad
Others had speculated that production
delays may have forced it to postpone
the device’s unveiling until later in the year."

Doubtful. If they reveal a new iPad or an iPad Mini it won't be until early next year. They always reveal new iPads at the beginning of the year. Apple won't break that routine. :idc:

The fanbois will get in line for a week to buy the ipad mini and then they will relaunch it 3 months later as an iphone maxi which is exactly the same thing and the fanbois will line up for a week to buy that as well.
They arent the brightest.

This isn't Steve Jobs anymore, though, things will be done an entirely different way. IMO, they will fasttrack a lot of new products and perhaps make more mistakes.

"Sources familiar with Apple's plans said the Cupertino-based company is preparing to unveil the iPad mini on Oct. 23, which will supposedly be priced to compete with less expensive offerings from Amazon and Google, reports Reuters.

While failling short of specifically naming the iPad mini as the device to be announced, the source said Apple is set to unveil a "new product" at a "major" Oct. 23 event, just days before Microsoft is slated to roll out Windows 8 and the Surface tablet."

Apple will be mucked up in the next few years i predict. They need to tell customers what they want, rather than doing what customers want. That's why they're so popular. They dictated what people want rather than conforming.

Not really. As Arista posted up top in the picture, it would be a size in between an iPhone and regular iPad. It's not a great experience to surf the Net with an iPhone anyway, and as far as I know, the iPad doesn't do phone calls...at least I haven't seen anyone holding one up to their ear. :joker:

As much as I respect and use some of the Apple line of products, I enjoy having my PC desktop (gaming/music/work) with nice flat screen monitor(non-touch) and keyboard...and leave the Internet at home when I leave. I use the wife's iPhone for GPS only...when she gets lost and needs "reassurance" since my directions are apparently falling on deaf ears. :joker:

That all being said, if the iPad mini comes to fruition, I think we'd like to own one. Not too large, the Apple-quality touch screens that are to die for, and maybe having some extra new capabilities. :colour:

I already have an i pad. I bought it from a chinese website. Only 42 £. :amazed: I'm not keen on a mini i pad. What's the point of it? :suspect:

If they do unveil an iPad Mini I'll be incredibly shocked, seeing as they made all those unsavoury comments towards 7" tablets in the past.

All I care about is the new MacBook Pro's that might appear. I needs me a new laptop.

Apple will be streaming today's event live on Apple TV, iOS devices and the Apple website via Safari on Mac OS X 10.6 or later.

Great news. This doesn't happen often so we're quite lucky...wish they'd done this for the iPhone 5 event though! Hopefully this will now become the norm.

"It will go on sale next week on November 2 and cost from £269 ($329) and the company hopes the ultra-competitive price will destroy its main rivals Amazon, Microsoft and Google."

Eh. Would be seriously interested if that 269/329 price was 32GB rather than 16, and forget the 4G as it can already be tethered to your existing iPhone. Pass for now. It will no doubt be a hit though.
