So tonight I discovered that the old Razzies ceremony threads from 2008, 2009 and 2010 have been mysteriously deleted from the forum. The explanation from the mods is as follows: "They were deleted by admin and mods for the drama that kicked off afterwards."

That's right - dormant threads from two, three and four years ago have suddenly been deleted for no good reason. Fair enough if they'd been locked for no further posts, but that's three years of effort from both me and you down the drain.

For FOUR YEARS there's been no major problems with the Razzies, but now it seems they're the biggest burden ever, and I'll be damned if I'm wasting any more of my time on a forum game that's clearly not going to see the light of day past December.

So, given this and the drama over the opt-out list, this year's ceremony is now cancelled - sorry to the majority of you who were looking forward to them.

It seems a bit silly and OTT to delete all the threads and not just Lock them or delete the posts that started the drama

Deleting them all together will just cause more drama if anything

Fair enough but my above statement is correct

The explanation from the mods is as follows: "They were deleted by admin and mods for the drama that kicked off afterwards."

The explanation is a word-for-word quote, which came from a mod (ukturtle)

I know the mods are generally very helpful and for that I'm thankful  but when you don't know who's specifically responsible you tend to just blame the whole staff

Obviously I'm now well aware who to blame (*cough*James*cough*)

No need for the tantrum. I gave you an answer, and a pretty reasonable one. You don't need to know who locked them (although now you do). You could just speak to James and ask him to unlock them.

I'm sure you'd be just delighted if every game you've ever run was deleted from the forum simply because they got a little heated

I don't care anymore, the point is they shouldn't have been removed in the first place

There was no problems with the 2008 and 2009 threads in 2008 and 2009, and the 2010 thread had already been moderated, locked and returned

If anything it's the normal everyday threads here that cause the most drama. Arguments break out in ones about the weather or puppies. It seems a shame to single out The Razzies.

Fair enough, I would be, but to blame us is out of order. All we did was answer your question.

If you follow my suggestion and ask admin if they can be restored, they may do it. It's worth asking before getting in a rage and cancelling everything.

Omg! I hope the opt-out drama you're referring to isn't Novo's text to me? It was just a joke

Not a problem, I meant the drama that led to me introducing the opt-out list

Fair enough, I would be, but to blame us is out of order. All we did was answer your question.

Again I'll say that when you're not aware exactly who's responsible you'll speak in general about the whole staff, because you know it's got to be one of them. At that point I wasn't aware, and to be fair, your explanation stated that "They were deleted by admin and mods", which itself is a generalisation.

Obviously I'm now well aware who deleted them.

If you follw my suggestion and ask admin if they can be restored, they may do it. It's worth asking before getting in a rage and cancelling everything.

It's not about getting them back, it's about them being deleted in the first place.

I don't see any reason to put effort in to a game (and Shaun and Dezzy know exactly how much effort I went to this year) if moderators are going to make up the rules behind my back, and if the results are clearly inevitably going to end up deleted (I haven't even mentioned the 2011 ceremony which hasn't been seen since the day it took place).

It's just a waste of time, and I'm not going to waste any more of my time.

Please stop blaming the mods. Admin made the decison. I've been a host, i know how much effort goes into games, but you need to take this up with admin.

Please stop blaming the mods. Admin made the decison. I've been a host, i know how much effort goes into games, but you need to take this up with admin.

And you please stop saying I'm blaming the mods when I'm only explaining the reasons I made a generalisation (which you're partly responsible for).

Especially when I've already made it clear who I'm blaming:

Obviously I'm now well aware who to blame (*cough*James*cough*)

I'm not taking it up with admin, I've already spoken to admin about the opt-out list. If anything admin should be taking it up with me and explaining what the hell the bloody problem is.

Shaun
09-11-2012, 05:05 AM
What's the actual point? Was there a thought in James' head that said "oh crap, so-and-so might read up on the 2009 Razzies and reinstigate that argument about webcams"?

And even if there was something salacious or controversial, do you think deleting the thread is going to make it go away?

I shouldn't be surprised, this is coming from an admin that thinks swearing is so naughty, but whatever. Sad times.

If anything it's the normal everyday threads here that cause the most drama. Arguments break out in ones about the weather or puppies. It seems a shame to single out The Razzies.

..I think that’s a shame..not only for you Matt, obviously but for everyone else as well...

...I don’t think I’ve fully understood the Razzies before, but as a very wise person has pointed out...forums, life..everything in general has good stuff and bad stuff....if you try to have one (eg ML etc) without balancing it up with the other..it won’t make the bad stuff go away..it’ll only make it seep more into other parts of the forum...and possibly cause more bad feeling and arguments than the Razzies ever could have.....

..people not being able to express their views never makes for a good environment..and they won't be held in anyway, they'll just find another outlet.....

Just to pick up on a couple of points:

The catalyst for the opt-out argument definitely wasn't *Kate* - again I'll reiterate that it came down to the fact that an opt-out list had been announced behind my back without me being consulted. Although I'd prefer there not to be an opt-out list, given that no unanimous solution had been reached, it felt it right just to go ahead with it as it was the fairest solution to all involved.

And although the thread deletions were the main reason behind the cancellation, I can't deny that the opt-out drama didn't have anything to do with it - I'd already had enough crap thrown at me from that, so I wasn't prepared to take any more.

Finally, my apologies for getting a little too heated with my side of the argument last night, but it still stands and I'm glad most if not all of you understand where I'm coming from :) I will reconsider the 2012 Razzies in the future, and I reserve the right to do so (I.E. no-one is stealing them from me :p) but until ALL of the ceremony threads are returned to the forum (including 2011) - whether they've been locked and moderated or not - I'm not budging.

Just wanted to give a little update on this:

I have private messaged James three times in the last four weeks in an attempt to resolve the thread issue, but to add insult to injury to injury, he hasn't responded once. Not even with a one-word 'yes' or 'no' answer to let me know whether or not the deleted threads will/can be restored. :/

So the 100% final, definitive word from me is that the 2012 Razzies are cancelled. I'll see if I can get it resolved for 2013 (fat chance of that happening )

Pathetic. Matt, if they're not listening to you, then they're obviously not worth your time.

My thoughts exactly - I don't want to be petty, it is only an online forum, but I'm wondering if it's worth posting at all anymore given how I've been treated. After all, the Razzies have been running for four years (Four. Bloody. Years. I can't stress that point enough) with minimal problems - it's only this year that James, and perhaps even some of the mods, seem hell bent on destroying it.

But even if James was to miraculously get in touch within the hour and sort the mess out, it's too late for a ceremony this year - obviously it's the hectic month of December and with Celebrity Big Brother back in a few weeks I'm busy doing my own thing. The earliest a ceremony could be done now is February.

All that said, if members do decide to band together and form a mutiny, I'm in ;)

He has done - I spoke to him about the opt-out list issue.

But if his policy's changed since then then he should bloody well switch back - how else are members gonna contact admin? I refuse to believe he hasn't checked his private messages at least once in four weeks

And Matt what exactly have the mods done to be at fault for this? James deleted the threads, he's admin, we're not going to restore something he deleted.

I've said this a few times so I'll only say it once more - when the problem first arose I was not aware of exactly who was at fault so I blamed 'the mods' using it as a general term. James is also a moderator - just one who also happens to run the site.

Shortly after it came to light that James was responsible for deleting the threads and I made that clear several pages back.

Since then it has been James and only James I have been unhappy with.

However, the conspiracy theorist in me believes that there's one or two other mods (that I shan't name) who - while they are not responsible for the thread mess - would rather the Razzies were gone, hence the post which you highlighted

Shaun

Anyway, that's all I have to say. The ball's in James' court - if he pulls his finger out his ass and gets the threads back by the end of January I'll look at doing a ceremony in February, but there definitely won't be one in 2012 regardless of what he does as I'll be too busy to set it all up. If you fancy sending him a few encouraging messages, feel free. ;)

But hey, with all the controversy and the length this thread is getting, it's beginning to feel a bit like the actual Razzies anyway

Just to respond to this - I am aware it's only a forum, but it's the principle.

For instance, if I was being treated this terribly in a shop, I'd dump my shopping basket and leave as they do not deserve my custom. Why should it be any different here?

because its not tangible like a shop plus no one is saying you cant leave.
Clearly if james was a shop owner he wouldnt want your business so deal wiv it.
