A man jumping into a pool which has frozen over has reached viral status online.

A German man attempts to cannonball into the frozen water, but unexpectedly smashes hard onto the ice and skids across, much to the hilarity of his friends.

Filmed by YouTube user Roberto Caliendo, he and the rest of the group begin ROFL-ing uncontrollably.

Thankfully, the crash landing wasn't as painful as it looked, as the stuntman instantly crawls along the ice laughing at his failed attempt at reaching the cold water.

The video - titled 'Catch the Ice Dude' - has been seen over 8 million times since it was uploaded on September 28.
