before you died, if you could live in a country for 6months, which country would it be.
No 'ifs, buts' maybes'.
What's the one country that fascinates you enough, makes you want to visit it, to experiencce it and all it has to offer, land, cultures, food, lifestyle, history: so much that you'd like to visit there before you die.
I'm really stuck on a few tbh. Need to have a serious think if I have to bring it down to one...... Though Papa New Guinea is set in my mind, apparently there are over 1000 different cultures in existence: to experience a smidgen of them, I think would amazing.
Russia, such a huge and diverse country with a really interesting history

This will sound crazy but was watching coach trip once as they visited St Petersburg, I got a really odd feeling that I 'knew' the place, it was really strange....So I say there.

See........ there's something about your post. This 'inexplicable' draw to a country: for no reason really. makes you wonder about afterlife and such.

Confession time: me too. Alsakan whale watching trip is very high on my list: but hen I'm pulled between adding to the tourist attraction that will become the norm in future: thus endangering the very thing I loved.
Alaska.
See above.
Australia
Several friends had seen, conquered, come home and either stayed or returned: I'm not sure.
Uncle started off in Oz. Moved to NZ and has been trying to get me out there for years;.
(wonders if he runs a house of ill repute!!! LOL)
I'd like to Visit England, live in America and Canada.
Are you sh*tting me here: have you never been to England? Soz: but I genuinely thoguth you'd been to concerts and festivals over here?

I'm very embarrassed to admit that I have NEVER set foot in Ireland.
Given that I worked for years in an Irish Pub, socialised heavily with a band called "Athenrye"... whom I loved dearly : I really should be ashamed of myself.
Can I possibly redeem myself at all in any small way by saying I'd love to follow the trail of ye olde irish lands via pony n trap:? ( genuine stuff : I would love that.....crappy weather an all)

Nope I go to all my concerts and festivals here, we get the exact same as in England so no point in putting extra costs on top of tickets and stuff haha. I will visit eventually, maybe in the New Year

Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. I've been desperate to see Tokyo every since I was a little kid. The place seems so vibrant, and just a nicer place in general than anywhere in the west. Plus it has all the advanced Japanese technology and stuff and ugh I just love Japan so much OKAY.

Honeslty I thot you had visited Edin for NY... then it dawned on me that it was not you, but UKT - Ben - who enjoyed the 2011 into 2012 festivities.
Saying that though: am still surprised that you've not ventured to the festival in the SE - nip over - I swear on the moggies life that you'll have a absolute blast!! From an 'auld C U N Tues", late summer on the Cornish coast is brill.

There are a lot of places I want to visit, but most of those I would only like to stay a week or two.
For a time as long as six months I think the only place would be Canada, there is something about the country, I feel almost drawn to it.

Antarctica.
Every other country in the world (that I want to see or haven't already lived in) is pretty easy to live there for 6 months, whereas Antarctica is very hard to visit and you have to get permission to go there which is very, very limited.Cold it may be, but such a beautiful and eerie landscape, not to mention the wildlife that is unphased by humans.

May I be so bold to suggest shaun that should you visit Japan, that you ensure that when you visit: that you stay with Japanese friends.?
reason I say so: is that is it customary for the guest to be the first person to bathe in household bath
.................................................. .................................................. .............................................
with the Dad ; Mum : children then ''enjoying'' same bath water as everyone else has.

Worked with a guy years ago UKT: was an investigator for both commercial and personal insurance claims: this man had some very unusaual rocks displayed in his office: when I asked about them, turned out that he took an expedition to Antartica and brought them back.
His tales were amazing. Loved to hear of them but seriously doubt could even consider the endurance.
take me hat off to you if you think you could ...... I wouldn't last a day in such conditions. thats' the truth!

Germany, That's where most of my heritage comes from.
To anyone that wants to visit America. Visit the midwest area (IA,MO,IN,IL,NE,MN). The most friendly area. Also take the backroads to destinations. (Local Highways)

I would say a village in Italy, it sounds peaceful also I like Italian foods and weather.
I could visit historical places now and again.
Originally I wanted to say Cuba.
I would drink mojito, enjoy listening and dancing to Cuban Rumba.
But I do not feel happy with Cuban foods for six months, also unless I am staying in a five-star hotel, Cuba's regular power cut would be inconvenient.
If it is only for a few weeks, yes I would love to stay in Cuba.:amazed:
