When i was around 16, me and some of my friends were bored during the summer and decided to try out a Ouija board. So we went into this little abandoned caravan in a field and started. We were using a coin rather than a glass and it started moving, so we assumed one of us was pushing it so asked "the spirit" to move something to prove it was there and it said Yes so we asked will you move the pen it said no, we said will you move the matches it said no, then all of a sudden the whole Caravan shook, not a rocking that would happen if one of our friends were outside taking the piss, seriously shook, we could even feel rocks underneath hitting the end. No one believes me to this day apart from the people who were there.

I believe you Niamh.
I messed around with some friends on a ouija board as a kid (early teens) and it freaked me out so much I never did it again. I felt physically sick after we did it, really ill and headachy, and so did the others. That night I went downstairs for a drink and opened the cupboard to get a glass. The glasses were right at the back of the cupboard so couldn't have been dislodged by me opening the door, and the glass we used flew out out the cupboard into midair, fell to the floor and smashed.
Never again!
..I've always been too scared to mess with a Ouija board...it would worry me as to what would happen..that sounds terrifying..I would have slept with a baseball bat under my pillow ever since, if that happened to me....
..the only 'spirits' I've ever experimented with is once I went to a clairvoyent..and I was stunned by some of things she said..things she couldn't possibly have guessed...after that I would never visit anyone like that again....
..mind with some of the 'mind readers' now, I wonder if it was all a trick after all....

...did someone else turn it off do you think...was the door locked at the time..?

yeah, they're seriously creepy things, a few other weird things happened as well that time.
Here's a creepy story with a funny ending :
Me and Gav were lying in bed one night and suddenly we could hear really heavy breathing, it sounded like it was right in the room with us, we were really freaked out until I realized what it was. There's a field next to the house, the field is sloped so eventhough our bedroom is upstairs the field is almost level with it and we had a velux window over our bed (which was open as it was summer) and there were cows in the field at the time and that was the breathing noise.

Yeah, I've been to alot of fortune tellers, just for a laugh really but one of them told me something before it happened, right down to giving me the actual name of the person involved, absolutely no way she could have guessed any of what she said

My bedroom door keeps locking from the inside. I'm the only one who has a key and have often heard it lock I go unlock it and it locks again an hour later. had the door changed but it still happens so now I just ignore it :/

..ahh LOL..something similar happened to me once when I was a child...we were camping and there was a horse outside of the tent...well, there was about two hours of terror involved before we knew it was a horse..I think I was about 6 at the time..my brothers would have been 7 and 8..we clung to each other for dear life....

Oh that's creepy :/ Are you not scared? I think I'd be terrified by ghosts, although the first house I bought had belonged to an old couple who'd lived there all their lives, I can't explain it but I felt like there was some sort of presence in the house but I was never scared, it felt like a really good presence and the house always gave me a nice feeling

My dad passed away at home in 1996 myself mum and sister were there to say goodbye.
A week later we were sat in the same room as macmillan had called to collect the equipment. Mum started crying, the room was instantly full of a scent..
(I know this is reported often)
I couldn't describe it, it was like really really expensive perfume..
and very strong. We just stared at each other then as quick as it came it was gone.
It was the most comforting thing, and really helped us grieve.

...very spooky bb12..it's a good job you had your socks and boxers on at least..

..yeah, it freaked me out someone knowing some of the things she said...I think I'd rather just take things as they come and not know anything about the spirit world..

..I've often heard people say that the 'spirit' lingers for a few weeks or so after death....and yes, people do say it's comforting..

At first I was a bit freaked by it but it happens 2-3 times a week so it's just the norm now....other people get freaked by it though like my friends..... they think im behind it somehow?

I swear to god that happened us this year after my brother passed, myself and his daughter were going through his things and got this really sweet smell pass over the room, it was gone a few seconds later, then it happened again a week later when my sister was beside me...

I feel sorry for my friends mum, we did ouija in her house all the time...We were into all that stuff, collecting epitaphs, scrying, automatic writing, candlemagic.. it was fun, scary.. but fun.
..I watched a movie the other night..Red Lights..and I know it was just a movie but it put across a very good case that everything could be explained and there were no paranormal experiences...it was very interesting and it does make you wonder about all of these things...

That sounds interesting Ammi, I would consider myself to be pretty skeptical in general but there have been a few things I just couldn't explain that's not to say there isn't an explanation!

...well, these movies put a very clever slant on things..you come away thinking..'AHAA..that's how it's done..'...then you find an old dead woman looking down on you from the top of the stairs....

:laugh3::laugh3::laugh3:
I'm going to look that up actually
..here's one that happened to me...
..we were staying in an old cottage in Devon with my brother and his wife...my son was only a toddler at the time...he was a really placid child and hardly ever cried, but for some reason he seemed very unsettled as soon as we got there...he was upset the whole time, yet he didn't seem ill....
..the part where we slept in was a newer extension to the building..but the original cottage was used as a snooker/pool/games room and my brother's bedroom was near that....all through the night, my brother would hear the clacking of the pool balls...he kept going to check if someone was playing but there was nobody there....
...sounds funny and not very sinister..but it was strange...

At my old house I remember waking up randomly in the middle of the night and seeing a little boy sitting on the floor watching my TV. I remember jumping up only to see that he had vanished so I put that one down to being half asleep.
There was also a time when I had two friends around and we kept hearing banging upstairs and when we went to look a crate randomly fell down the stairs that freaked us out.
The scariest one though happened ine night when I was about to go to bed, I walked up the stairs in darkness and I looked up to the landing and it was weird to explain but I saw a dark shape that was darker then the rest of the darkness? Then I felt a gust and felt something pushing me backwards when I was halfay up the stairs. I just bolted to my room after that.
I don't believe in things that go bump in the night though, all but one of these events happened late at night when I was alone so I contribute them to being tired.
A less paranormal (but by no means less scary) event happened in this house a few years back. I was up late at night and had just made myself some toast when I came back downstairs to return the plate, I went up to the sink and looked out of the kitchen window to see some random man in a freaky mask looking right back at me. I have never been so freaked out in my life, in those first few milliseconds I honestly thought I was living my childhood nightmares. To this day I rarely look out the back windows at night.

I think we have someone in our house. My son who is 2 tells me about a man who comes into his room when I am downstairs. He said he stands on his shelf but is not scared of him. They say children are more susceptible to these things.

This is more an embarressing story but when I went camping with my school and you know they sometimes have portacabin showers
well I went to use one because it was 'vacant', opened the door and there was my (female) teacher naked scrubbing herself down and she screamed like she was being murdered
not my fault, you didn't lock the bloody door :idc:

a few years ago i worked in a all girls private school as a cleaner. it used to be an orphanage back in the 1960,s ran by nuns and it was also an old peoples home before becoming a school. anyway during the summer the cleaners would go in to scrub walls etc, there was 4 of us and the caretaker. one day me and another cleaner gary had just started work and he said we wil have a cuppa before we start before the others get here. as we walked past the assembly hall (which used to be a church) we heard a ladies voice singing 4 notes la, la, la la. i looked @ gary and he looked @ me and we both asked if the other had heard that? i said oh it will be the other cleaners, they will be in by now. so we went to the main door and the other cleaners were just walking down the drive so no way cud it have been them. we told the caretaker and he didnt believe it anything like that and said a teacher had been in, we made him ring the teacher and she had been in but had left 10 mins before we even got in so it wasnt her. we ended up calling the voice lady la la. there was various other things happened whilst i was there always during the school holidays when nobody was in. 4 of us heard violins playing once that was creepy. i often heard my name being called when i was hoovering. i just got used to it by the time i left.
..very creepy Mizzy..they probably wanted you to switch the hoover off because you were disturbing their choir practice..
