Well...?
Although not strictly a horror - I find the Paranormal Activity ones the scariest. I prefer suspense and shock to blood and guts. Always gives me the heebie geebies.

..Silence of the Lambs..is that a horror movie..? i'd say it is, some people say it's a thriller, but there's definatly horror, terror and gore in there.

Even though it was a 5 part movie (but 2 hours and 20 minutes all together), mine would have to be Dead Set.

Blair Witch Project always scares the crap out of me. Watching that alone in the dark is really creepy.
The Hellraiser movies are great, but they arn't really scary. Also the Child's Play/Chucky movies are a lot of fun.
..thank goodness Halloween's over...and we can go back to watching normal films on TV....:idc:

Martyrs was quite excellent and on my top 5 list.
Others: Stranger in the House(now called Black Christmas), Eden Lake, High Tension, original Texas Chainsaw Massacre...
I used to be a *huge* horror film buff. Just too many to list. Like asking what your fav song is. :joker: You have the wonderfully done ones like The Shining, and then the raw ones that used a camcorder or shaky cam like Blair Witch and Rec, etc. I like a lot of the films that came out of France, Netherlands, and South Korea and Japan. Not shy of subtitles and will try anything new you guys have to suggest.

I think as a whole the Horror genre is a rubbish one for me. There's barely 10 films that are any good the rest are total crap.

There's not many horrors I'd rewatch for fun, after the scares and jumps at the first viewing, the movie has lost a lot of it's thrill.
One that really stands out for me in the genre is Silent Hill
http://i.imgur.com/j7pfM.jpg
I thought the cast was good, the atmosphere created in it was brilliant, and there was a real unknown factor about the horrors faced by Radha Mitchell and Laurie Holden.
I watched part 2 the other day, and I thought it was pretty disappointing compared to it. It was like they tried to explain too much, so the plot didn't flow as naturally.
Other horrors that I really liked are The Mist
http://i.imgur.com/vdDSL.jpg
The Ward
http://i.imgur.com/g03IL.jpg
I tend to watch a good few horrors, I stay away from certain types like the torture porn subgenre (things like the Saw) or comedy horrors. But I find a lot of horrors are lacking, sometimes it's the cast, sometimes it's the script or the special effects, other times it's something as simple as the lighting.

I have so many but out on top is Dracula 2000,with Saw and Final Destiny, and most spooky has to be the 'old' version of The Haunting.

My fella is into old horror movies and he collects them so have sat through most horrors good and bad from the 70s till now.
As dated as it is my favourite is still the exorcist. It was the first film I watched that disturbed me... I am not a big fan of new type stalk and slash films...but the original Halloween and Friday 13th films were great

The Exorcist
Rosemary's Baby
Halloween - Good but dated now since all the horror conventions it created have become cliched now.
Let the Right One In - Not really a horror but oh well.
Scream
The Wicker Man
Salem's Lot - Like Halloween it's become a bit dated now.
REC
Dawn of the Dead - The Remake.
