View Full Version : Should the TiBB Razzies have an opt-out list? [Poll]

Matt

Seeing as this debate has erupted tonight, I want to gauge the forum's opinions in a pollular form.

Should the TiBB Razzie Awards (the negative awards - Most Argumentative, Most Self-Obsessed etc) have an opt-out list, so you can abstain from taking part if you so wish?

Mystic Mock

No it takes the fun out of the game.

People would only complain that 'said person' has it out for them even if it wasn't anonymous... so really it'd be a no win-win...

The Razzie's aren't broken, let's not try to fix them.

So you think Members should see who's being horrible to them? what if they've got loads of nominations aswell it would be cruel.

Im on about that if members are going to be horrible they will be anonymous or not anonymous, what should happen is that you can't have award nominations that are really cruel like "Who's The Ugliest Member Award".

I'm not the one being sensitive...

I'd find it flattering if the same person nominated me for every award...

I just don't think that members have strong enough skin to deal with knowing who's nominated them for these awards... despite it being just harmless.

I've gave my POV though.

Oh I didn't see Mockinator posted above me and you directed that at him, this is awkward -walks away-.

And again, exactly what I'm trying to say. If its lighthearted and not meant maliciously then where is the problem in putting your name to it hmm?

Insults, and baiting (ie delib trying to upset someone you don't like) are against forum rules. So why is it allowed for this purpose?

People keep saying its fun. It mostly is. Mostly isn't good enough however.

Because even when it's meant to be light-hearted, you'll still get folk be sensitive if they found out who nominated them... and this is the downfall of it... you'll get the same old 'I'M HATED, FEEL SORRY FOR ME, THIS PERSON DOESN'T LIKE ME BOO ****ING HOO' stories from people and it'll ruin it all.

In general, everyone I see on the forum banters and doesn't take things seriously.

For the most hated, if that's what it was called, I think it was fair that there was an opt out.

But the Razzies are something different. They are not meant in a malicious way, even if people want to take them that way, they're just a bit of fun. However I've never been picked for one I think, but from reading posts by Shaun or Brother Leon, they seemed to take them as they were intended, as a laugh.

It is peoples right to be offended, and it would be a shame that people chose to feel like they were being picked on because of it. But didn't Claymores insist on not being included in the most loved... ok I don't know where I'm going with this, but thanks for reading.

Unless someone is just being outright rude. Which is why I said unless the awards themselves are very insulting/rude then there shouldn't be a problem.

Well look, I can only speak for myself, although I can think of a specific member who would be distressed at being nommed for anything negative. In my own defence, and I said this last year as well, nobody bloody nommed me for the stuff they should have done, such as Drama Queen, Attention Seeker etc. I am both of those things. Yet instead I was personally singled out for biggest suck up, ass licker or whatever it was, and I was bloody funing, as I will only be nice to people I like, if I don't I will argue the toss with someone till the cows come home. Argumentative as well. Call me that and I won't get offended either.

Please someone tell me they get where I'm coming from.

Because some members go out their way to get offended and like to kick up a fuss. Gives them less reason to.

TBH, I think the votes being out in the open would make it less hostile.

People probably get more upset if they are paranoid the majority of the forum dislikes them or whatever.

If it's out in the open people will see that everyone is just jesting with everyone.

Unless, as I said earlier, a clique of people all voting for the same people doesn't want to be put on display*.

*Is not in any way, shape or form a conspiracy theory.

I think it's pretty clear why it would be a bad idea to take away anonymous voting for this and not because it's nasty or malicious because I do honestly think most members still take this as a light hearted bit of fun but if it wasnt anon there would be some that would obviously use it in the future to cause drama out of it.

Shaun

in a much more base way, too, submitting votes publically would make it obvious who's going to win... it'd make the entire surprise element redundant

Nothing wrong with that at all....

Marsh.

Yeah, not reasons and explanations. Just the list of awards and the names next to them for each person who votes is all.

If they're having this "opt out" thing then it shouldn't be a problem. Sensitive members who may get offended will then not participate, ergo, no drama.

This is basically why voting will remain anonymous, at least initially - although if people really wanted to know who voted for them I guess I could tell them after the ceremony

We will, it seems odd to me though that there is one amnesty, one massive snipefest that as said creates paranoia and bad feeling on the forum....
And yet anyone who 'wins' and is slightly embarrassed or offended is berated as it's only a 'laff'....makes no sense.
