View Full Version : Looking back..to when you first joined TiBB....
..how do you think you’ve changed..?
...I don’t mean as a person of course, but how you post and respond to other posters..
..I first joined only to discuss BB, as I suspect a lot of others did..I was here quite a while before I stayed off season..even then I fairly much kept on the perimeters of the forum, posting in the A-Z threads and occasionally joining in a serious debate topic, keeping to myself and never really wanting to get involved too much...
..when you look back on old posts, do you think you think you’ve changed from the way you used to post in the beginning...?

I was more involved when I posted during off season at the start. I practically lived in The Den. Now I don't post so much in the chat threads, people like me less as well since I became a mod I think

Not particulary (apart from the fact I haven't watched BB properly for a good 2 years)
I suppose other peoples posting styles rub off on me a bit, so when I'm talking to them I can't help but post similar to them

..that's interesting...I think you've always been a mod since I've been here...or at least I didn't notice when you became one....
..I think the only 'new mods' I know were Kerry and MTVN...I don't think either of them really changed since becoming one....
..not that I'm saying you did either...I just didn't know you as a non mod...

I've changed for the better, I cringe and want to self harm whenever I consider those days.
I was probably more uptight when I first joined and less laid back, just joined to talk for a few weeks about BB11 then planned to leave and I might have come across as a bit of a dick in there. I remember when I was really new I sent Ben a pissy PM having a moan at him for closing a thread as I was replying
Like Nathan said, other peoples posting style does rub off a bit as well

I don't think I've necessarily changed since becoming a mod, more that other peoples opinions of me have, people have fallen out with me because I've infracted them etc

I don't think I have changed, mainly because when I first joined,it was just as the last BB series on Channel 4 had started, I was immediately welcomed by one Mr Mockinator who I communicated with a lot from the start and then kazanne became someone I regularly communicated with too.
So I felt very much part of it all and also felt supported and protected by those 2 members and others too.

I've gone through a couple of posting styles, like the omg bbz fierce ha2 Zeta one, and the current '[opposite of the truth] tbh' meme. But I think underneath it all I've always been the bossy, steadfast know-it-all who wants to play and run games.

I used to be scared of Dezzy, :D
Then i was in his Darkwood Isle game and got to talk to him a bit.
I think other people would notice more if I have changed than I would myself. Probably changed a lot really.
Oh jeez, I keep referring to Dezzy as her or she, probably because of the current avatar. Whoops. Sorry, Dezzy. And that's what I've learned over the past year of being here in this forum, not to go by avatars, go with the names. :joker:

I've pretty much grown up on this forum. I was 13 approaching 14 when I joined - I don't remember typing like an idiot, but you could tell how young I was. Then I think I became sort of too wise for my years and alienated myself from the other users my age - my first real friend on TiBB was lily and we've always remained friends ever since then, despite our age difference, because I think she understood that I didn't really fit in with everyone else. I felt bullied for a while by a certain clique on the forum (including MarkWaldorf - ironic that half a decade later, we'd end up meeting in person, and he's actually one of the nicest people I've ever met!) and stopped posting for a long time and kind of forgot about TiBB. I'd remember it every so often and have a browse but I don't think I really posted. Then in like 2007 I made a concerted effort to try and get back into it because the other online communities I'd been posting on were dying out and I really didn't have much in the way of friends in real life, so I just sort of posted until people acknowledged me on here again. I think the turning point was becoming a judge on dupin's X Factor game. My fellow judges were Billy, Darenn and Shaun. I ended up becoming close friends with Shaun and Darenn; and whilst the latter disappeared and we don't speak anymore (though we would if he was around!), the former became my best friend on TiBB :).
Through Shaun, I got to know the rest of my TiBB friends really (apart from lily who I'd always been friends with) and we had so many glorious nights on MSN from like 2008-2010, that was definitely the high point for me. I think it helped me reintegrate myself into forum life. The last couple of years, people's priorities changed with the times, but I'll always be a poster on here I think, I've been here for over 7 years now and, if for no other reason, I can always look back on my posting history and see how I've grown up.

I remember being pretty shocked when two people were arguing and both had over 10k post and one of them said that they had never spoken to the other person before.
But yea I think Ross's Den thread helped a lot. Because a lot of the other people posting there were new also, it wasn't as daunting.
