Horrific...there is too much of this happening....why would any mother leave their child with someone they barely know??? The mother should have known something if she had old injuries. So sad....

That is absolutely despicable.

I feel sympathy for the mother but at the same time think her apparent lack of awareness of this quite astonishing. That points to neglect to me, of course you would know if your baby was being abused to that level.

You definitely would know. My son had a fall the other week (he is 2). I took him to a and e as I knew he was seriously in pain as it was a different cry than I had heard before. They looked him over and sent us away as if I was neurotic. I was back 2 days later demanding an X-ray because I just knew something was not right and it turned out his collar bone was broken!!! Ribs are so much more painful and that child must have screamed every time she was picked up. No way her mother would not know something was wrong.

I agree,i have a 3 year old son who also fell and we took him straight to A&E,and you right the cry is different, turned out he was ok but he was Xrayed,I cant believe in this story that the mother got no charges.
