I know this only pertains to America but if they do allow this it would be big news for LGBT rights.
They're reviewing CA's Ban and a federal law saying that marriage is between a man and a woman.
I'm straight and I do hope this gets passed, everyone should have the rights to marry. Proud that my state does.

I wish it wasn't up to the government whether gay people could get married or not. Some churches are for it which is great, but I think the ones that aren't have the right to be.

Unfortunately, there are some atheists out there. So the Gov't has to be involved. As Long as the gov't doesn't make churches accept gay marriage, I'm fine with the Gov't being involved.

A government cannot force a church which holds long cherished religious beliefs to carry out practices which they consider abhorrent . If same sex marriage is outside of that church's religious doctrine then it ain't ever gonna happen end of.
Same sex couples would need to find a church that does allow same sex marriage or failing that start their own church...!!!

So wait I'm confused. You're saying just because one church doesn't allow it the government can't allow it?

Now I'm confused ... What do you mean the Govt can't allow it , allow what ?? , do you mean because one church doesn't allow same sex marriage the Govt should still try and enforce all churches to allow same sex marriages?
The Govt cannot force this on any church that does not recognise it, there is no law that can force this on churches if they do not want to change their interpretation of their religious texts..!!!

I understand nedusa, you mean if you are gay and catholic (for example) you are out of luck. You will have to convert to a more accepting branch of the christian faith?
