HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (AP) — A shooting along a rural road Friday left four people dead, including the gunman, and three state troopers injured, authorities said.

The shooting scene "extended over several miles" in Frankstown Township, about 70 miles west of Harrisburg, Blair County District Attorney Rich Consiglio said.

The dead were three men and one woman, Consiglio said. It wasn't immediately clear who killed the gunman.

The victims' identities weren't immediately released.

Three state troopers were also injured during the melee.

One trooper was shot in his bulletproof vest and escaped serious injury, a state police spokesman said.

A second trooper was struck by broken glass when his vehicle was fired on, and a third trooper was in a crash involving the gunman, Consiglio said.

The public is not at risk, Consiglio said. Nearby schools weren't placed on lockdown, township supervisor Mark Schroyer said.

I think it's sad that it took the murder of small children for this debate to get more attention than it usually does, and it's even sadder that this tragedy has happened in the wake of the elementary school one. I sincerely hope there is a positive resolution to the banning of guns and somehow getting rid of them in the USA, it is a massive problem.

yeah, I live in America and proud of living in America. I don't own a gun or care about people owning them. Psychos will try to find a way to make themselves famous for going on a rampage and then killing themselves. Which is why this school shooting happened. Taking away guns because Psychos abuse won't do a thing. They'll go onto knives, (In fact some guy wounded 22 kids in China at a school with a knife, yes I know it's wounded but a Knife is just as deadly as a gun if used properly). The real problem is the media glorifying the killer. I don't mind glorifying the victims. But the media is at fault. I don't mind news like "Oh, We found the cure to cancer" or "Some guy completed the world's largest free fall" Sometimes the news has to get out because it's interesting, of course I don't wanna see a headline like what happened last friday. But if you gotta tell the world then I understand. Just as long as you don't glorify the killer. The Media is at fault.

This will probably be the last time I'll talk about the subject.

There are actually other problems the gov't has to face right now anyway. Like not starting the next recession with this fiscal cliff nonsense. (Basically Taxes will go wayyyyy up for mostly everyone in the US and the gov't will have a very low budget)

Besides it would take 8 months for something to get passed involving the ban of guns which I don't see happening because the gov't is so deadlocked and soooooo much to the left and sooooooo much to the right for both sides right now. I wished that there was a third party involved

These killers have probably played one too many computer games and they probably feel their lives are empty that all there is left to do is kill themselves but at the same town lash out and kill others and then kill themselves, end themselves with their own control.

I sadly don't find these stories surprising anymore. I think the only big shock I get is if it happens near where I live :S It's the start of World War 3. Instead of fighting for your own country, people are just fighting for themselves, getting too frustrated, taking it out on other people. Scary world out there. *Remains hermit* :(
